Introducing: The Bremont Ministry Of Defense Collection

It is no secret that over the years Bremont has worked on a number of special-order projects at the request of various branches of the British Armed Forces. This work has culminated in what we see here, an agreement which sees Bremont given the license to use signs, symbols, and Heraldic Badges from all three branches of Britains Armed Forces C and they're the only luxury watchmaker with permission to do so.To mark the launch of this new partnership, Bremont has launched the Armed Forces Collection, which includes three MoD-inspired references, all chronometer-rated, and non-limited. All three models features cases made in UK, which is particularly interesting, as it will be the first time Bremont has departed from its Trip-Tick style case, instead opting for a two-piece case construction. Bremont Co-Founder Giles English did mention to me a few weeks ago that "this new case will be limited to the MOD collection."?He went on to say, it is difficult to think of a more significant recognition that has been received by Bremont in the 12 years since we sold our first watch.?While the collection clearly draws inspiration from the original "Dirty Dozen" watches, taking design cues from the original 1940s models, it is important to note that these three new watches have not been commissioned by the MoD for troops.?Rather, they're inspired by the MoD and are meant for civilian use. Here's a breakdown of the three models and what makes each unique. The Broadsword The first watch is the Broadsword, inspired by the Army. A no-nonsense three-hander with a distinctive "Dirty Dozen" vibe, the watch starts with a 40mm steel case. The dial side is utilitarian, with the date at three o'clock and sub-seconds at six. The new two-piece steel case houses the chronometer-rated BE-95-2AV movement and, in line with the original specification, the hands and markers have multiple layers of luminous paint applied to them.?You will notice that all three watches have HMAC on their dials, which stands for Her Majestys Armed Forces. It's hard not to see this guy being a cracking daily beater, especially on that green fabric strap.? This is a mono-pusher chronograph (a first for the brand), very much a military classic that never fails to get a great deal of love. The case is 42 mm, with the start/stop/reset pusher at two oclock. The chrono hand has a red arrow tip designed to contrast against the black metal dial. The dial layout is as one would expect, with sub-dial at nine oclock for running seconds and elapsed minutes shown on the three oclock counter.? This is my pick of the bunch. Inspired by Greek mythology, the name is inextricably linked with Naval history, having appeared on commissioned ships for nearly 250 years. The Argonaut is Bremont's take on a super-compressor dive watch with an internal rotating bezel operated by the crown at four oclock. The case is 42mm, but the highlight here is the orange minute hand with custom green Super-LumiNova.?Aside from the larger MoD partnership, this is just a great looking watch.?
