Introducing: The Bulgari Serpenti Seduttori Tourbillon
January 13, 2020
Last year at Baselworld, Bulgari released the Serpenti Seduttori, a single strap/bracelet version of the iconic Serpenti. The Serpenti usually features a double or triple wrap bracelet with enamel or gold scales. The Sedutori, on the other hand, has a case head shaped like a snake's head (just like the Serpenti) with a standard single scaled bracelet or leather strap. When the Seduttori was first released it had a quartz movement. Well it's back now with a manual-winding tourbillon movement in three versions: white gold with diamonds and a leather strap; white gold with diamonds and a matching scaled bracelet; and rose gold with diamonds and a leather strap. The caliber BVL150 boasts a tourbillon, 40-hour power reserve, and water-resistance up to 30m. The strap versions have just over 2.5 carats worth of diamonds while the bracelet version has over 7.5 carats. Initial Thoughts I have always loved the Serpenti. Its gorgeous design and rich history is unparalleled by most ladies' watches currently in production today C it really is an iconic watch in every sense of the word. The other, more "casual" line at Bulgari is the Tubogas collection, which features watches with single, double, up to quadruple wrap bracelets made from gold-wrapped iron coils. I find that the Seduttori line falls somewhere in between these. I imagine if you are the Creative Designer at Bulgari, it is difficult to reinvent a watch that has done so well for you, but I think the Seduttori was very well-executed C it's comfortable, easy to wear, and still has the sophisticated elegance that Bulgari represents. As a follow up to last's year's introduction, I think it is only fitting for Bulgari to create a more technically advanced Seduttori with a teeny tiny manual-winding movement with a tourbillon. This is the manufacturer that brought us the thinnest automatic chronograph GMT, after-all. My personal favorite is naturally the white gold with diamonds and bracelet; the scales are slinky and cool to the touch, and who am I to say no to a little bling?
