Introducing: The Bulgari Serpenti Tubogas Three-Gold

The Bulgari Tubogas watch has been around sine the 1940s and has remained a staple in the elegant ladies' watch category ever since. The watch has evolved over the decades, and has bene produced in varied metals from white to pink gold to steel. The word Tubogas refers to the metal bands wrapped around the central steel coil in a style inspired by humble Italian piping. This year, Bulgari is releasing several new versions of the Tubogas, including this three-tone version with white, pink, and yellow gold in three sections, giving the appearance that each wrap of the bracelet is a different colored metal. The basic specs are still the same (35mm case and a quartz movement), but the look is certainly fresh. Why This Watch Matters The Tubogas is one of the few ladies' watches that continues to be reinvented and continues to delight buyers. Along with the Cartier Tank, the Tubogas remains one of the most iconic ladies' watches of all time. This example is particularly exciting because it references a vintage model with a similar design. It's great to see Bulgari reference its archives and implement some inspiration into its modern collection. As the saying goes, what's old is new again. Initial Thoughts It is no secret that I love the Tubogas and the Serpenti, and this one is no different. While I am partial to the vintage one that partnered with the likes of Vacheron Constantin and Jaeger-LeCoultre for tiny mechanical movements, I still love this new color variation. But what I love even more is the fact that they brought back an old design.
