Introducing: The Cartier Tank Cintre In Three New Editions
January 15, 2018
Though details are scarce, it's easy to see at first glance that these three new Tanks are awesome. There are three different metals to choose from C platinum, pink gold, and yellow gold C and each comes with a unique dial, all of which have a distinct vintage feel. At 46.3mm x 23mm, the curved case is both a little longer and a little slimmer than the "Large" size Tank Amricaine, so these should wear like a true old-school Cintre too. As they should be, all three are manually-wound with slim movements fitted inside the 7.2mm-thick cases. The Tank Turns 100 Last year was the Tank's 100th birthday. To celebrate, Cartier released a collection of special Tanks in September that included a skeletonized Cintre as well as this stainless steel Tank Amricaine (a descendent of the Cintre). Check out Stephen's A Week On The Wrist review of the latter here. Why This Watch Matters The Cintre has been mostly ignored by Cartier for a long time now, and it's good to see the brand reviving a vintage favorite. That they decided to do so with a killer skeleton last year for the Tank's 100th anniversary was great, and to follow it up with this trio of elegant options is even better. The balance of the overall pared-down styling and the slightly ornate Arabic numerals at 12 and six, as well as the rich dial finishes is fantastic. Initial Thoughts I mean, what's not to like here? Seriously. After briefly seeing these in the metal (we'll have live pics for you soon!), I can say that the dials are off-the-charts good and the cases a near perfect size. The platinum is my personal favorite, but the yellow-on-yellow might be one of the overall sleeper hits of the show.
