If you are obsessed with vintage Patek Philippe, then you have a new home. Collectability.com is a new site launched today by John Reardon, an expert on Patek Philippe watches, former head of watches for Christies, and former (longtime) HODINKEE contributor. The sites tagline is "An Education in Vintage Patek Philippe" and it is unlike anything we have seen before. ? John stepped down at Christies this summer, and we have been waiting to see what he would do next. Word on the street was that he was going to buy and sell Patek Philippe watches. He is, but with a twist. What he is doing with Collectability, he says, is creating a new transparent business model focused on educating buyers on every last detail of their watch.? The site is divided into three main sections C Community, Watches, and Education C and includes more than 30 articles at launch. More are on the way, of course. The Community section has interviews with various Patek collectors, including our friend Ed Sheeran, who shares why he collects and loves Patek. Another interview is an exclusive, detailed discussion with the mysterious father and son team on Instagram known only as Horology Ancienne.? The Watches section tells the stories of various references in depth. The Education section offers information and insights that you might never have thought about.? There is also a Shop selling vintage Pateks.
