Introducing: The New F.P. Journe Octa Divine, With A Redesigned Dial And Larger Case

While SIHH 2016 is certainly the main topic in the watch world right now, it is not the only game in town when it comes to watch announcements this week. F.P. Journe has announced an update of their Octa Divine watch. ?You may recall that earlier this year F.P. Journe released a box set to commemorate the end of their production of 38 mm watches. In tandem with dropping the 38 mm size, Journe is also doing a piece-by-piece redesign of the collection. The thought with the redesign is that the old version will be discontinued, and the new version of the watch will available in 40 mm and 42 mm sizes. In order to do this, the dial needs to be redesigned because it wouldnt look right to simply put the same dial in a larger case. Last year the Octa Lune was redesigned, and this year it's time for a redesign of the Lunes sister watch, the Octa Divine. ? The new Octa Divine is generally a larger version of the old Divine with a few tweaks. It has a roughly 50% larger date window, a simplified power reserve indicator, and adds the central dial ring from Journes recent perpetual calendar watch, the Quantime Perptuel. Maybe the most interesting change is that for the first time in a Journe watch, instead of a seconds hand, there is a seconds disc. Lest you think this is a mere dial variation, the new Octa Divine actually carries a new reference designation, reference DN (which presumably stands for Divine Nouvelle), while the old version was Ref.
