Introducing: Glashtte Original Collaborates With Europe's Oldest Porcelain Manufacturer Meissen For A Trio Of Hand-Painted Porcelain Dials

October 09, 2025

Today, Glashtte Original introduces three new watches as part of a brand new collaboration. But no, it's not with a retailer, publication, or collector group. It's actually between Glashtte Original and MEISSEN, Germany (and Europe's) first porcelain manufacturer, founded all the way back in 1710. This new trio, as you might expect, consists of three new porcelain dials. Set in 40mm red gold cases with heights of 10.23mm and lug-to-lugs of 47.09mm, the three dials are all made out of thin slices of porcelain, fired at extreme temperatures of 1,400 Celsius with either white or celadon green glaze. Once these dials have survived this step, as they are prone to cracking, all of the decoration on the dial is then painted by hand, including the distinctive Roman numerals, lettering, and more, layer after layer. Once each layer is complete, the dial is then fired again at high temperatures to bake it in. Two of the three limited editions lean into Meissen's signature "Mystic Maison" decoration, with hand-painted floral ornamentation set within the painted outline of the middle of the dial in either white or celadon green. Both are limited to 150 pieces each. The third is perhaps the wildest one, and the most rare, limited to only eight pieces. Gone are the Roman numerals; instead, they are replaced by an absolutely vivid collage inspired by Meissen's 'Dekorwelten' vase, with brightly colored animals, flowers, and fruits, all set on that celadon green background and entirely painted by hand. All three of these limited editions are powered by Glashtte Original's automatic Caliber 36-16, a contemporary in-house movement with 100 hours of power reserve, bi-directional winding, and a silicon balance spring. While the dial may have very unconventional aesthetics for the brand, the movement is classic Glashtte Original with all the requisite striping, hand-engraved balance cock, and plenty of beveling and blued strews. The Senator Meissen series will be available in all Glashtte Original Boutiques and from select retailers worldwide. The two Mystic Maison dial references are priced at $30,300, while the Collage dial is priced at $36,400. What We Think I find that this year's lineup from Glashtte Original has been quite strong, and these three, while limited in general appeal, are really interesting as a collaboration and make a ton of sense as a bridge between two very different executions of German craftsmanship. Those expecting flawless printing should look elsewhere this is all about leaning into human imperfection. It goes without saying that the white porcelain dial with the "Mystic Maison" decoration will be the most low-key of the trio, and while I'd imagine these will sell out quite fast, the white dial will probably do so the fastest. Much like owning any watch from Glashtte, this dial is really an "if you know, you know" execution that hits that perfect level of subtlety. But if I got to take a pick of the three, it would certainly be the absolute cornucopia of nature that is the Collage dial. By far the most out there of the bunch, this one will surely find its way into the collections of those who already have everything else.
