Introducing: The Glashtte Original Senator Cosmopolite

Back in 2012, Glashtte Original hosted an event at New York City's Explorers Club to launch a grand complication, the Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon. This watch combined a perpetual calendar and tourbillon with a new travel time complication in a way that really pulled out all the stops. Now, more than five years later, the brand is giving us the Senator Cosmopolite, which utilizes the same travel complication but without the other bells and whistles.?The watch comes in a 44mm stainless steel case, has a dial that's about as minimal as you could hope for with all the information it displays, and houses an in-house automatic movement with GO's signature double-cock balance. One of the things that sets this watch (and its predecessor) apart is that the travel time can be set to 36 timezones, including those that use half- and three-quarter-hour differences.? Initial Thoughts I remember how impressed I was when I first saw the Grande Cosmopolite Tourbillon C it seemed so aspirational and well thought through. I actually like this new rendition of the Cosmopolite even better. It's a much more focused watch and one that comes with a price that's easier to swallow. My only gripe is the size. Everything about this watch feels so elegant and restrained, but then you have that 44mm diameter. If this watch were sub-42mm, I really don't think I'd have a single complaint.
