Introducing: The H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Tiger's Eye

April 06, 2021

Last week, H. Moser & Cie unveiled the Endeavour Centre Seconds Concept x seconde/seconde/ C a truly minimalist take on watch design with whole lot of flair in the form of a pixelated eraser for the hour hand. Well, that minimalist approach wasn't a one-off but rather a sign of things to come. The brand is continuing this theme with its latest release, the Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Tiger's Eye, two striking dial variants utilizing C as the name suggests C Tiger's Eye (a variety of microcrystalline quartz). Initial Thoughts While in the same Endeavour collection as the seconde/seconde limited edition, the Tiger's Eye is a completely different take on the minimalist style C on top of the fact that it features a perfectly conventional hour hand. No pixelation here. Within this Tiger's Eye model, there are two dial variations taking the animal eponym even further. The blue dial is called the Falcon's Eye. Its color, according to the brand, comes from veins of fibrous crocidolite and silica. The red-dial version is called the Ox's Eye.?Falcon's Eye is cased in white gold and the Ox's Eye in red gold C both 40mm in diameter. This stone also brings with it a bit of historical significance. Legend has it that soldiers from the Roman Empire wore Tiger's Eye stones around their necks for protection in battle C and in the Middle Ages, it was used to ward off evil spirits. For Moser, the stone wards off boredom C it's yet another step forward in dial design from the team that brought you the watch made of Swiss cheese." In a recent conversation with HODINKEE, H. Moser & Cie CEO Edouard Meylan spoke about the inspiration behind this watch. On the topic of the new dial, and veering away from fum with this release (despite the fact that Moser is known for its fum dials), Meylan said, "We need to continue to push forward, not forgetting where we come from C and Tiger's Eye is a good example of that." He continued, "With no logos, no indexes, you can really appreciate the beauty of the dial." This is the sort of dial that no doubt needs to be appreciated in the metal C to see its depth and how it works in a variety of lighting conditions. This watch also represents a new collection of tourbillon watches for the brand. The tourbillon C with its skeletonized bridges C takes a prominent position at six o'clock just below the hands. The movement inside this Tiger's Eye is the calibre HMC 804. This is a self-winding manufacture movement featuring a double flat balance spring, meant to reduce friction while improving accuracy. The new H. Moser & Cie Endeavour Tourbillon Concept Tiger's Eye is limited to 50 pieces in each variant, and only 20 watches will be produced in a year. This is due to the difficulty in sourcing stones that have regular parallel lines as well as the complexity in producing the dials. Since the dials will be crafted from the actual stone, every piece will be unique. And priced commensurately. The Basics Brand: H.
