Introducing: Herms Launches 'The Cut,' A Sport Watch For Women

Herms is expanding its watch offering with a new integrated bracelet sport watch for women (well, for anyone who likes 36mm diameter watches). Available in steel or two-tone steel and rose, with or without diamonds, and with bracelet or rubber strap. It's a simple, clean, easy-to digest-watch. The case shape is rounder and softer than the "men's" H08. It's a clean geometric design with both satin-brushed and polished finishing. It's simple, understated and balanced C how very Herms. The crown is perched up at 1:30, ??with a lacquered or engraved H. And If you go for diamonds, you will get 56 of them on the bezel. The silver-toned dial is perhaps where we see the most signature Herms watch characteristic: The typography which is distinctively graphic, but different to the H08, placing the "The Cut" in its own unique design-language-lane. The seconds hand on the steel model bears a little luminous Herms orange dot, which sweeps over the gray and orange-accented minutes track. While the dials on the two-tone models remain slightly more paired down, with no orange accents.? The watch has a sapphire crystal caseback through which you can see Caliber Manufacture Herme?s H1912, and its rotor engraved with the H pattern. It has 50 hours of power reserve and 100 meters of water resistance. "The Cut" comes with and integrated metal bracelet but can be swapped out using quick change for a rubber strap which is available in a range of eight Herme?s colors?C white, orange, gris perle, gris e?tain, glycine, vert criquet, bleu jean and capucine. What We Think Up until now the H08, which was only just released in 2021, has existed as the sole sport watch in the Herms catalog. The French luxury goods company had been focused on its classic Cape Cod and Arceau and other traditional styles, as well as its smaller run of metiers d'arts and complicated watches. All of the aforementioned product fit neatly into the Herms luxury vision. But watch trends evolve and tastes change, as do the wants and needs of the core Herms customer. Creating a sporty model aimed at their male demographic made sense, especially considering their approach to menswear today is minimal and modern. We have to remember that Herms operates as a destination where top customers can be fully outfitted. You want the look, the bag, and the watch too. So why not just shrink down the H08? In fact when my colleague asked me that very question in a Slack conversation I bluntly replied, "No woman would ever be caught dead wearing an H08." And while I may have been a little brash in my response, I suspect Herms' watch design team might have preempted that type of response. Hence the release of "The Cut." It's sporty in an elegant way. It's less of an aggressive silhouette, it's slim and easy-to-wear. For women who can carry a large tan birkin but in a relaxed way, with white jeans, a sweater and loafers. It's less rigid than a Heure H and less "fashion" than a double tours Cape Cod. It's that perfect kind of in between.
