Subscribe to the show: (Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Spotify, TuneIn). Already heard it once or twice? Please leave a short review here, and tell us which guests we should have on! Usually we need to set up each episode of HODINKEE Radio, telling you who the guest is, how we met them, and why you should want to listen to them talk for an hour or so. This week though, we can skip all that. Grey and I decided that for our next editor profile (you can check out the first one, with Joe Thompson, right here), it was time we sit down with none other than HODINKEE editor, social media manager, and manager of special projects, Ms. Cara Barrett. Now, I might be biased because I have the distinct pleasure of sitting right across from Cara at HODINKEE HQ, but you'd be hard-pressed to find someone on our masthead who's better at bringing out the best in each person on our team. Grey aptly describes Cara as our "glue guy" C?you know, the person who holds the whole thing together behind the scenes. Don't mistake that though for meaning Cara doesn't bring her own all-star contributions to the table. From the HODINKEE Magazine Volume 1 cover story about Paul Newman's Paul Newman Daytona (and the video we produced during the sale itself) to diving deep into the perplexing tale of the Senza Luna, Cara's written a few all-time great HODINKEE stories too. We talk about all of this, but we also get into where Cara comes from (it might surprise you), how she transformed from a would-be engineering major to an art historian, her days sorting through antiques in English country houses, to her entry into the watch world. We recorded this on Caras birthday too, so there's plenty of gift-giving, wine pouring, and all manner of general revelry. If this episode is half as fun to listen to as it was to make, you're in for a treat. We hope you enjoy Episode 45 of HODINKEE Radio. Check out the show notes below and let us know what you think in the comments. Wrist Check More often than not these days you can spot Cara rocking a 37mm Audemars Piguet Royal Oak with a grey dial C?and that's exactly what she had on her wrist when we sat down to record. There are plenty of good reasons why this has become Cara's go-to timekeeper over the last year or so, including the beautiful smokey grey dial (with matching date disc, obviously), the incredible finishing on the case and bracelet, and the easy-to-wear proportions of this slightly smaller Royal Oak. That these watches are almost as hard to get as the coveted ref. 15202 "Jumbo" Royal Oak certainly doesn't hurt the appeal either.
