We're back, and we haven't missed a beat! This week, we've got a really fun show for you, with three diverse segments. First up, we've got the first HODINKEE Radio segment recorded in our new virtual studio (i.e., one of those video chat apps we're all living in these days). A little more than a month ago, Cole gave a standing-room-only talk at the Horological Society of New York called "Horological Homecoming: The Hidden History of WWII Watches." It was about a collection of watches worn by soldiers during World War II and how, nearly 80 years later, he's trying to return those watches to their owners' descendants using little more than the clues engraved on their casebacks. Cole tells me about how he became obsessed with this project, the basics of WWII watches, two of the trails he's followed to the end, and why he thinks this exercise matters in the first place. ? After that, we've got a conversation that our editor-in-chief, Jack Forster, recorded a little while back with Richard and Maria Habring, the husband-and-wife duo that makes up Habring2. Things obviously get a bit technical (this is Jack conversing with a pair of watchmakers we're talking about here), but their chat also includes some great insights into the smaller, more personal side of the watch industry. It helps that Richard and Maria are two of the nicest people you'll ever meet and that they're equally passionate about making genuinely interesting watches. Last up, we've got our newest HODINKEE editor, Danny Milton, making his HODINKEE Radio debut (you'd better show him some love down in the comments!).?With everyone on team HODINKEE working remotely, the question "What's your work from home watch today?" has been flying around our company Slack channels a lot. This got Danny thinking about the joys of wearing a watch just for oneself and what he's learned about watches that will stick with him long after this strange stretch has passed. We hope you enjoy Episode 83 of HODINKEE Radio. Check out the show notes below, and let us know what you think in the comments.
