Under normal circumstances, much of Team HODINKEE would be in Switzerland right now, covering Watches & Wonders Geneva (formerly SIHH) and Baselworld, bringing you all the new releases live from the cradle of watchmaking. But, these aren't normal circumstances. Luckily, the FHH organized a sort of virtual Watches & Wonders fair, and more than a dozen watch brands have released 2020 collections over the last few days. After so much waiting and after hearing non-stop about this and that being postponed or canceled, I'll admit it was a real joy to see a massive drop of new watches happen all at once. It only seemed appropriate to get Ben and Jack into the virtual studio on Friday afternoon, as new pieces were still in the process of coming out. The three of us have shared hundreds of product briefing appointments at SIHH, Baselworld, and smaller shows all over the globe, so we knew we'd all have a lot to say. We start off talking about the brands that appear to be going hard this year, revamping entire product lines, including IWC, Panerai, and Cartier. New Portugieser, anyone? A ton of great Santos-Dumont models? Then we dig into the brands focusing on fewer drops, though those watches are no less exciting. From an Herms watch with a piece of Mars inside to an incredible new skeletonized QP from Vacheron Constantin, there are a ton of pieces that the three of us are jonesing to see in the metal ASAP. This is about as pure a HODINKEE experience as you're going to get. Three watch lovers talking about dozens of new releases just a few hours after they were unveiled, obviously giving each other a hard time in the process. This was a super fun one to record, and hopefully, it's just as fun to listen to. Be sure to check out all the new releases for yourself too! We hope you enjoy Episode 88 of HODINKEE Radio.
