The Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie (SIHH) is the first major event of the horological calendar, drawing journalists, retailers, collectors, and industry folk alike to Geneva for a week each January to see what the brands will be introducing to the market over the coming 12 months. It's a chance to take stock, to gauge the mood of the industry, and to explore the newest releases all at once. So naturally we've brought nearly a dozen HODINKEE team members out to start 2019 off right. This isn't just any old SIHH though. This year is the last year that Richard Mille and Audemars Piguet are exhibiting and with all the drama surrounding Baselworld in the wake of Swatch leaving and both trade shows synching up calendars, it feels like things are in flux and that this is an important moment to capture. So we figured that in addition to all the usual coverage right here on the website and across social media platforms we would bring you daily podcast updates from the show, sharing our real-time reactions and discoveries in a candid, off-the-cuff format. As day one of SIHH 2019 came to a close I was able to wrangle James, Jon, and Ben into a makeshift studio (actually it was all the work of our top-notch producer, Greyson Korhonen) and the result is a fun inside look at this year's fair as it gets off the ground.
