Introducing: Cherry Blossoms Return With The Grand Seiko SBGH368
February 12, 2025
There's been a lot of Grand Seiko on the site recently, from three new releases to a great video interview with President Akio Naito and Senior VP of Seiko Watch Corp. Munehisa Shibasaki published just last week. I'd usually suggest a break so you don't get overloaded, but Grand Seiko just dropped what might be my favorite gold-cased Grand Seiko in the lineup today. The 62GS case reinterpretation in rose gold is matched with a creamy version of the beloved cherry blossom dial in the new SBGH368. In 2023, Grand Seiko launched the 100-piece limited edition SBGY026 with the manual-wind Spring Drive caliber 9R31. This is the first non-limited edition 18k rose gold case from Grand Seiko with the 62GS case. It's the bolder, stronger case design that's pulled from Grand Seiko's history.?But inside is the Caliber 9S85 Hi-Beat 36,000 automatic movement, with 55 hours of power reserve. But the 38mm by 12.9mm case (with display caseback) also has 100m of water resistance. Sure, it might be more than you need for a dressier watch, but I am not complaining. The Grand Seiko SBGH368 will be available starting April 1 with a retail price of $31,200. What We Think I saw a preview of this watch while in Japan last year, and I was struck by how fantastic it was. Sure, maybe I liked the SBGY026 a bit better with the manually wound movement and no date. But the rose gold and that pale cream-pink dial are an all-time top-tier combination. The 62GS case is a bit bolder than most dressy (see, I'm afraid to say it's a dress watch and start a debate) combinations, but I could see this as the kind of option you could say was the last gold watch you'd ever need.
