Introducing: Hamilton's Latest Video Game Collab Is A Limited Edition Boulton For 'Death Stranding 2'

March 11, 2025

If you know video games, you know "Death Stranding" C or at the very least, have probably heard the name Hideo Kojima. Kojima and artist Yoji Shinkawa have been responsible for some of the most iconic video games ever. In its latest collaboration, Hamilton combines that heritage with Yoji Shinkawa's art for Kojima's sequel to the genre-bending "Death Stranding." The result is unlike anything Hamilton has made in the past.? Yes, the watch is based (in theory) on the Boulton, the slightly tonneau-shaped rectangular watch Hamilton makes now, but it's teleported into the somewhat distant future. The watch has a big black PVD-coated titanium case measuring 48mm by 36mm in diameter and 13.7mm thick. Its arched bridge-shaped front case element features seven anti-reflective sapphire crystals. The bracelet is also black-coated titanium and has built-in quick-change spring bars. The spans of the arched shape slightly cover the dial, but the 12 o'clock index and the second hand are rendered bright orange. The rest of the dial is black or grey, with grey hands and no lume anywhere on the dial. Inside the watch is the automatic Hamilton H-10 movement for hours and minutes. That means 80 hours of power reserve and a rate of 21,600 vph. The Hamilton Boulton "Death Stranding 2" is limited to 2,000 pieces at $1,495 each. While it was announced this week, it won't go on sale until June 26, 2025, which coincides with the release of "Death Stranding 2: On the Beach," in which the watch is featured in-game. What We Think If I didn't touch too much on the video-game tie-in for the new Boulton "Death Stranding 2" Limited Edition, it's because I don't know much about the original game or what we should expect in the sequel. But Hideo Kojima and Yoji Shinkawa are the brilliant minds behind one of the best video game franchises ever: Metal Gear. Death Stranding was a successful title upon release in 2019 and featured performances from Norman Reedus, Mads Mikkelsen, La Seydoux, Margaret Qualley, and others in the game.? I find thematic futuristic watches like this very interesting C you have to imagine what a watch would look like having gone through decades or centuries of development while still making them recognizable to a modern customer as "a watch." This isn't new to Hamilton. Just take a look at the watches they've designed for Dune (not to mention the video game Far Cry 6) . But also, things like the PSR (formerly the Pulsar) were so ahead of their time that I think they probably left some customers scratching their heads. But, according to Hamilton, the work that went into this watch was even more involved."It took more than two years to design and develop the watch that appears in 'Death Stranding 2: On the Beach,' in parallel with the production of the game," says Yoji Shinkawa. "If it was just to appear in the game, we could have designed it freely. But we spent a lot of time on the design to make it into a product that functions as a watch while also conveying the atmosphere of the game. After numerous discussions and trial and error with the designers at Hamilton, we were able to complete the product."
