Introducing: Frederique Constant Revamps The Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture With A New Movement

The Frederique Constant Perpetual Calendar has been one of if not the premiere affordable mechanical perpetual calendar on the market. Whether it's a Highlife or Classic collection model, it's the measuring stick any other maker on a budget has had to contend with. Now it's back with a brand new movement and downsized to a 40mm diameter with the new Frederique Constant Classic Perpetual Calendar Manufacture. The revamped model measures 40mm by 12.1mm in a stainless steel case housing the automatic FC-776 in-house perpetual calendar caliber. The movement has a strong 72 hour power reserve and features basic perlage and circular C?tes de Genve decorations visible through the display caseback. This isn't the most highly-finished movement, but on top of the functions (hours, minutes, moonphase, date, day, month, leap year) and attractive salmon sunray dial, the price is still one of the best on the market. The watch will be?$9,995 when it hits the market in fall of 2025. What We Think With the recent announcement of a smaller worldtimer and now this new, smaller, perpetual calendar, it feels like Frederique Constant is on a bit of a hot streak, making exactly what they're good at: solid, attractive, budget-friendly watches from complications to simple quartz watches with moonphase. It's a bit of a relief, in a way. There was a time recently when Frederique Constant was making $28,000 gold or $45,000 platinum tourbillons, $30,000 white gold malachite dials, and more. While they weren't unattractive, I wasn't sure about the market for these kinds of items. Customers look to Frederique Constant for great value, and FC knows that. The price sitting just five dollars under five figures is no coincidence. I'm looking forward to seeing this watch in the metal soon.
