Introducing: Girard-Perregaux x Bamford Throw Back To Vintage Vibes With The 'Deep Diver' (Live Pics)

May 14, 2025

You might remember that Girard-Perregaux recently brought back the Casquette, a digital display watch originally released in 1976, which marked the start of the brand's "Legacy Editions." Now, the collection is back with a collaboration with Bamford that brings us the Deep Diver, which draws from the 1969 and 1971 "Space Race" era Deep Diver. The result is a cushion-cased watch with an internal rotating bezel that plays off super-compressor design language with a punch of color for summer wear. The new Girard-Perregaux x Bamford "Deep Diver" features a 40.3mm by 38mm Grade 5 titanium cushion case that's 13.91mm thick and draws from the 14-facet bezel of the 1969 ref. 9108. That case has a radial brushing common for watches of the era, with some polished surfaces on the lugs and the caseback.?Meanwhile, the blue, orange, and white dial and orange-filled grey PVD hands draw from a 1971 example of the Deep Diver, punching up the volume on a diver that often was more common in a more staid black. The watch alsocomes on a quick-release blue strap with an orange option in the box. Inside is the GP03300 automatic movement with a power reserve of 46 hours. Functions include hours, minutes, central seconds, and date. The watch is not a true compressor case, but it does have an internal rotating bezel that gives even more of a vintage touch. The watch is exclusive to Watches of Switzerland (which owns Hodinkee) in the United States for the first month of availability, from May 14 to June 14. After that, it will be available via retailers or through Bamford, limited to 350 pieces, for $15,100. What We Think I really dig this new release from Girard-Perregaux. I never would have expected it C nor did I honestly know about the vintage GP Deep Diver C but I'm glad to see the brand doing something cool for summertime. While it feels like the time for vintage-inspired releases has passed, it makes a lot of sense for a brand like GP, with a strong heritage, to stay the course and keep digging into their archives for watches that can help diversify their lineup. There's no doubt that the price tag might come as a shock to some. With the super-compressor cushion case shape now available from several smaller and more affordable brands, GP is leveraging the appeal of a more premium offering. I never would have guessed how hot the GP Casquette was upon release, and I can see that Girard-Perregaux has a lot of passionate fans who will really love having yet another retro-inspired GP release that's incredibly wearable for the warmer months of summer.?
