Introducing The Synchron Poseidon Military Black Edition

Synchron has introduced the third version of its Military diver, and just like the last iteration, it's in collaboration with Swedish dive gear manufacturer Poseidon Diving Systems. It's similar to the previous Poseidon Military, but now with a glossy black dial that makes for a worthy addition to the line.? Like last year's Poseidon Military, 2023's Poseidon Military Black Edition features a 42mm tonneau-shaped case made from 316L stainless steel that's 14mm thick. It's a short 45mm lug-to-lug, which, when James went hands-on with the Poseidon Military earlier this year, gives the case "a nearly square footprint C the Poseidon wears in a happily chunky manner." Happy and chunky are two of the best adjectives to describe a dive watch, and this one's got 300 meters to keep that smile on your face. The only major difference from the previous limited edition is the dial, now a glossy black with "old radium" Super-LumiNova, but still with the Poseidon logo sitting between four and five o'clock.? Inside ticks the La Joux-Perret G100 C a movement that's similar to the ETA 2824-2 C but which Synchron said it chose for the Military series for the longer 68-hour power reserve. The Poseidon Military Black Edition is limited to 1,000 numbered pieces and offered on a yellow or black Tropic strap. Earlier this year, James went hands-on with the Synchron Poseidon Limited Edition and came away impressed.?Since the only thing that's really changed here is the dial, this seems like a solid effort by Synchron to fill out its Military series. It's a big and chunky dive watch, unabashedly '70s in its appeal, and with a direct link to the famous Swedish diving equipment manufacturer Poseidon.? If you're thinking about this watch, I'd recommend reading James' full hands-on review of the previous Poseidon Military, since this watch should wear pretty much the same.
