Introducing The Autodromo Monoposto: Inspired By 1950s Italian Grand-Prix Cars, Now With Self-Winding Movement
November 05, 2012
The guys from Autodromo are back with their first mechanical watch (see here and here for Autodromo's quartz offerings).? The Monoposto is a limited edition timepiece featuring a Miyota 821A self-winding movement with calendar.? The case is 43mm in polished stainless steel, with the same thoughtful points that we loved in Autodromo's quartz range.? This includes an exhibition caseback with a laser etched Autodromo logo, polished roller buckle just like the hood straps on a vintage racing car, and a red line applied to the inside of the proprietary domed crystal.? The Monoposto is conceived with 1950s single-seater Italy grand prix racing cars in mind, and the red line comes from the common practice of mechanics to paint a red line on the gauges so the driver would know when to shift.? This self-winding watch will come with both black and matte silver dials, each in a limited edition of 250 pieces.? The price will be $875 for either, and like the rest of the Autodromo line, each part is individually designed and manufacture exclusively for the Monoposto.? More details are available here. We'll have hands-on pics of the Monoposto soon, as well as a detailed review of an earlier Autodromo release coming to the site in the next few weeks.
