Introducing The Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Night & Day, A New Time-Only Automatic Reverso (Live Pics)

For 2014, Jaeger-LeCoultre has introduced four new updates to their Reverso collection. Last week, we showed you the Grand Reverso Ultra Thin 1931 and today well shed some light on the Grande Reverso Night & Day. The Night & Day still has all the traditional stylings of the classic Reverso collection which, quite frankly, need no update. This is an uncommon instance in which all of the necessary updates are internal: at the heart of this watch is a new automatic in-house movement. For an iconic piece in the watchmaking industry that has had numerous iterations and complications, this update stands above the rest by bridging the gap between tradition and modernity.The movement behind it all is the in-house Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 967B. This 200-part movement, built in Switzerlands Valle de Joux, features 200 hand-assembled parts and a practical 42-hour power reserve. At only 4.05mm thick, the movements compact sizing allows the Reverso to retain its trademark svelte proportions (the case measures 9.14mm thick). Overall case dimensions are 27.4mm by 46.8mm.? The Grande Reverso Night & Day will be available both in steel and pink gold. Both versions have identical dials, decorated plainly but with elegant details. Black arabic numerals with the slightest serif feature prominently against an unadorned silver-toned main dial. The inner dial features Clous de Paris guilloch surrounded by minute markers. Beveling between the two dials, and on the outside of the main dial, add just the right amount of depth to the face of the watch.At 6 oclock youll find the namesake Night & Day" indicator. This is essentially a 24-hour sub-dial bisected with a pinstripe pattern from 18h00-06h00 to represent night and sunburst guilloch on the other half to represent day. A blued triangle hand in the sub-dial complements the blue baton-style hour and minute hand on the main dial for an elegant finish.The Jaeger-LeCoultre Grande Reverso Night & Day will be available at Jaeger-LeCoultre boutiques worldwide.
