Introducing The Omega Seamaster Diver ETNZ Limited Edition (Live Pics, Pricing, Specs)
July 01, 2013
Announced on Wednesday in San?Francisco, Omega has unveiled their fourth limited edition America's Cup timepiece with Emirates Team New Zealand. ?This timepiece is 44mm in diameter in a stainless steel case. ?The uni-directional bezel is made of ceramic, and not only is it a 300 meter diver with helium escape valve, but it's also a chronograph with 5 minute regatta markings. ? You can see in the minute register at 3 o'clock Omega has chosen, instead of build a dedicated 5 minute count-down complication as found in a traditional regatta timer, to simply mark the?chronograph?with a 5 minute regatta scale. ?This may seem like a bit of a simplification, but in actuality it allows the watch to remain a true chronograph, which, in my opinion is a great thing. ? At 10 o'clock you will see a helium escape valve, but what is interesting here is if you unscrew it, it actually gives you access to a date pusher which will advance the date at 6 o'clock. ? The OMEGA Seamaster Diver ETNZ LimitedEdition is powered by the Co-Axial calibre 3330 and equipped with an Si14 siliconbalance spring. ?The 3330 is actually an ETA 2892 base with chronograph module built into it, and of course the addition of both a co-axial?escapement?and a silicon balance are nothing to sneeze at. ?The goal here is a movement that will last for years without any problems, and indeed Omega offers a four year warranty on it. ? The watch comes on a rubber strap in addition to Omega's excellent steel bracelet. ?A nice strap-changing tool is included in the box. ?The caseback is engraved with the number of watch - 2,013 piece will be made. ?Price should be around 5500 CHF, so likely just under $6000. BEHIND THE SCENES While taking a look at the watch, we also had the chance to see the actual America's Cup team NZ boat. ?The wing (not sail!) is actually longer than the wingspan of A380 and was conceived by the engineer that designed the stealth bomber. ?Here you can see it being installed on the boat. ?It. was. awesome.
