Unique IWC Pilots Watch Spitfire Chronograph Edition Tribeca Film Festival 2014 Sells For $55,000 At Antiquorum New York

April 11, 2014

The IWC Pilot's Watch Spitfire Chronograph Edition with in-house Calibre 89365. A few weeks ago, we introduced you to?a unique piece from IWC made especially for The Tribeca Film Institute. This watch,?The Pilots Watch Spitfire Chronograph Edition "Tribeca Film Festival 2014," was auctioned Wednesday at Antiquorums Madison Avenue Showroom, achieving a final hammer price of $55,000 (more than double the high estimate of $25,000). In addition to this one-of-a-kind timepiece, the winning bidder?receives VIP access to the Tribeca Film Festival, luxury hotel accommodation, and an invitation to IWCs "For the love of Cinema private dinner. The Spitfire sold for $55,000, over double its high estimate of $25,000. This piece-unique Spitfire is a bold rendition of IWCs standard Pilots Watch Chronograph.?It features an 18k 43mm?red gold case, with a thickness of 15.5mm, housing IWCs in-house self-winding calibre 89365 with 68-hour power reserve.?There are two deep red subdials on the slate-colored dial, a small hacking seconds at 12 oclock and a 60-minute register directly opposite at 6 oclock. ?The watchs contrasting color scheme of deep red and slate is inspired by Hollywoods iconic red carpets and the New Yorks steely grandeur," according to IWC. It's the same color scheme found on the dial of?last year's Tribeca watch?(which sold for $60,000 C again double the high estimate),?though that was a Portuguese instead of a Pilot's Chronograph. For more information, visit?IWC online.
