Mick Mooren, The Dutch Teenager Who Received A Dose Of Kindness From Zenith CEO, Launches His Own Line
October 20, 2011
What were you doing when you were 19?Last winter, we told you the heartwarming story about a teenaged, self-taught Dutch watch enthusiast who was the recipient of a generous gesture from the CEO of Zenith. Well, that little Dutch boy is all grown up and just last week launched his own watch brand. Mick Mooren, all of 19 years old, introduced his new brand, aptly named Mooren Watch, to the world in a launch event in his home country of the Netherlands. The first offering from Mooren is the New Vintage model, an attractively simple timepiece that lives up to its name thanks to its mix of a modern, lugless case with a dial that combines classic railroad minute track and cathedral hands with stark numbers. Though the watch doesnt break new ground technologically, it is a solid first effort, with a German-made case from Ickler and a tried-and-true Swiss ETA 2824-2 self-winding movement. And its priced right too, at less than 1,000 Euros. The New Vintage is a great start for Mooren and well enjoying watching where this brand and its young owner go from here. Were not the only ones to wish Mick well with his venture. Zenith President, Jean-Frdric Dufour, posted a message on Zeniths official Facebook page, wishing Mick luck with his endeavor. You can read more about Mooren Watch here. What were you doing when you were 19?
