Introducing: The Monta Noble

August 20, 2020

Representing a fifth model in their lineup, Monta recently announced the new Noble. As a somewhat more dressy take on their evolving aesthetic, the Noble gives us a look at what the brand had planned for the 2020 new watch season. As with past offerings from this small St. Louis-based outfit, the Noble offers a Swiss automatic movement, a detailed and subtle design, and proportions that match its accessible price point.? Initial Thoughts Available with either an opaline silver or a sunburst blue dial, the Noble measures 38.5mm in width, 9.7mm thick, and 47mm lug-to-lug, so it should suit a wide variety of wrists. Both versions come on a steel bracelet, have 150 meters of water resistance, a screw-down crown, and sapphire crystals front and back. Monta says the Noble design is a response to their customers asking for a more luxurious take on past models like the Atlas and the Triumph. With a simple but legible and nicely balanced dial design, this is Monta's first watch to use a mirror-polished bezel to connect with the new handset and marker design used for the Noble. With any of the Montas I've experienced in the past, the finishing and details are remarkable for the price point, and from the angular applied markers to the polished bevel on the bezel edge (and even on the inner edge of the lug and bracelet), the Noble looks to have received the same level of attention.? Similar to that used for the somewhat more sporty looking Triumph, the Noble is powered by Monta's M-22 movement. This is essentially a Monta-decorated and adjusted Sellita SW300; a Swiss automatic movement with hacking and hand-winding, a date function (well-executed at six), and a rate of 4 Hz. The nicely-sized Noble is available now for a pre-order price of $1,600 with delivery expected in November of this year. Retail price (after the pre-order) will be $1,760. Monta notes that while the Noble is not a limited edition model, due to production schedules, they will not be able to produce more than 200 examples over the next 12 months.? Judging by the photos, the Noble looks like a successful attempt to steer the general vibe of the Triumph in a more elegant C even dressy C direction. As a handsome, straightforward, and well-priced addition to their line up, the Noble looks like another solid offering from the folks at Monta.?
