Introducing The Oris Divers Sixty-Five With Cal. 400
June 18, 2024
Oris has introduced a Divers Sixty-Five that shines on the spec sheet. For the first time in the core collection, Oris is putting its in-house Caliber 400 into a 38mm Divers Sixty-Five with no date.?Revealed in 2020, the Oris Caliber 400 is the Holstein brand's own movement with a five-day power reserve (thanks to its twin mainsprings, silicon hairspring, and tons of other technical innovations). In 2021, Oris and Hodinkee brought the caliber 400 to the 38mm Divers Sixty-Five for the pair's second-ever limited edition. Now, a 38mm Divers Sixty-Five joins the core collection. It features a sunburst, gradient green dial, and matching stainless steel uni-directional bezel with raised numerals. The applied numerals and hands have Super-LumiNova.?Together, it's a more modern take on the vintage-inspired diver that tracks alongside increased interest in smaller case sizes. Case thickness comes in at 12.6mm, and the smaller Diver Sixty-Five is water-resistant to 100 meters.? The Oris Divers Sixty-Five caliber 400 is available today for $3,900. It's delivered on the rivet-style stainless steel bracelet familiar to existing Divers Sixty-Five models.? What We Think The Oris Divers Sixty-Five caliber 400 is a spec sheet's dream. Manufacture caliber with a five-day power reserve. A smaller 38mm diameter (and 12.6mm thick) case. No date. The Divers Sixty-Five is retro-inspired, but the steel bezel and bright green dial give it a more modern vibe that stands out from the usual black dial and black bezel dive watch methodology. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five lineup is all about having something for everyone. From bronze or steel cotton-candy-colored watches to more serious divers like the existing Caliber 400 lineup, the collection has it all. A 38mm version with Caliber 400 has a bunch of cues aimed at enthusiasts, and it's a nicely executed watch.?It's Oris' version of the Tudor Black Bay, and they're not afraid to make it everything for all people, and I continue to respect that about the independent Swiss brand.?I've always struggled with stainless bezels on dive watches, but I recognize this is a subjective preference and have no doubt it won't bother many. The Oris Divers Sixty-Five cal. 400 for Hodinkee had a price of $3,800, so to have only added 100 bucks to the MSRP also makes it a reasonable price, relatively speaking.
