Among a range of new Submersible models, Panerai has announced a pair of special edition 47mm Subs said to be inspired by the French freediver Guillaume Nry. Both in titanium, and one very limited in production, the Panerai Submersible Chrono Guillaume Nry Edition 47mm takes the recognizable Submersible format and uses an array of color to invoke the warm blues and greens of the sea.?Furthermore, the limited edition of the two models not only invokes Nry's world, it offers it, as owners will be given the option of tagging along on a free-diving experience in Moorea, French Polynesia (where the now-retired Nry calls home).? Initial Thoughts The Nry editions are around two models, the titanium/blue PAM00982 and the black DLC/titanium PAM00983, both models are 47mm wide, feature Panerai's?in-house P.9100 flyback chronograph movement, come on rubber straps, and are water resistant to 300m. The non-limited PAM00982 has a blue bezel and rubber strap set against a rather handsome "shark grey" dial with blue accents. Limited to just 15 pieces, the DLC black PAM00983 has a blue/black gradient dial (does look quite green in the provided images) that is meant to connect with the color of the waters of Polynesia.? This is a fitting connection, as all 15 buyers will be offered the chance to experience free-diving with Guillaume Nry himself. Nery was previously an ambassador for Ball Watches and is a champion free-diver and record holder. The caseback of both editions recalls his record constant weight free-dive to astounding 126 meters.
