Photo Report: Parmigiani Fleurier Opens Their First Boutique In North America

Parmigiani Fleurier recently celebrated the grand opening of their new Miami Design District boutique with a gala event, full of enthusiastic fans of the brand. The boutique is Parmigiani Fleurier's first standalone store in North America, and no detail was left unturned. The Studio Parmigiani in Miami is Parmigiani Fleuriers fourteenth store. Miamis Design District is blossoming with with art galleries, design studios, fine restaurants, and a huge amount of watch boutiques. The Design District is an amazing area in an energetic city, perfect for Parmigiani Fleuriers first North American boutique.I used to live in Miami while going to watchmaking school, and I remember seeing the Design District when it looked very different from today. The transformation that has taken place is incredible to see; I think that at this point the Design District can rival Madison Avenue or Rodeo Drive in terms of number and concentration of watch boutiques. Boutique staff: Andrea Cardenas, Peter Glomb & Julia-Astrid Gourdon. The store consists of three spaces, each with unique design touches. The first space serves as a showcase for Parmigiani Fleuriers watches. The second is a library, full of interesting books both on horology and design. The third space is a lounge, featuring blue lacquered furniture, fitting in nicely with the Miami style. The grand opening also served as a celebration of Parmigiani Fleuriers newest watch, the Tonda 1950 Tourbillon. The ultra thin movement with micro-rotor is just 3.4 mm thick. The tourbillon (located just after 7 oclock) is flying, with no bridge on the dial side to obstruct its view. The Tonda 1950 Tourbillon is available in five dial variations: grey mother of pearl, white or black jade, grained white, and blue abyss with Co?tes de Gene?ve decoration.
