Introducing: The Patek Philippe Aquanaut Ref. 5167A For The Singapore Grand Exhibition

Steel watches are so hot right now, so it should come as a surprise to no one that Patek Philippe is on-trend with their limited edition releases for this week's Grand Exhibition in Singapore. You may recall the Grand Exhibition in NYC back in 2017, and this year's installment in Singapore is Patek's latest large-scale show, offering an in-depth look at the brand's past, present, and future. To celebrate, Patek has released a few new limited editions, including the Aquanaut ref. 5167A with red accents and a red strap. The Aquanaut was first released way back in 1997 and the 5167 was released later, so this isnt really a new model by any standard, but it has become increasingly hard to find due to the rising interest in steel sport watches and and relatively small percentage of Patek's overall production in steel. That said, this is your classic Aquanaut measuring 40mm in diameter, with a rubber strap and a time-and-day display (via the caliber 324 SC). This is a welcome (and sporty!) follow up to the green 5168G that was dropped at Baselworld earlier this year.? Initial Thoughts When it comes to luxury sport watches, you cant go wrong with the Aquanaut. Like the Nautilus and the Audemars Piguet Royal Oak, the Aquanaut has stood the test of time as a classic option. As I mentioned before, the 5167 has become more popular (and therefore harder to find) since the 5711 became nearly impossible to get (seriously, just try). So, it comes as no surprise that Patek has launched a special version of the 5167A in red for this exhibition. The watch itself has its signature cross-hatch black dial with red minute track, handset, and rubber strap. The watch has red accents and a red strap in a nod to Singapore's signature color and it is limited to just 500 pieces.
