Introducing: Row, Row, Rowing Blazers Is Back With Their Third Seiko Collab

May 11, 2023

It's May and you know what that means. The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and we're getting ready to put on C well, not just our bathing suits C but a new Rowing Blazers collaboration with Seiko that dropped today. And just like people rush to the beach on the first warm day of summer, you better rush to buy one of these quickly, because if the past is any guide, they're going to be gone before you can blink. That's right, the new collaboration offers 888 watches in each combination of dial colors (white, purple, pink, and yellow) all in a 40mm Seiko 5 Sport case with no dive bezel (but crown at 3:45). But, even with that many watches, they'll probably sell out pretty quickly. The included nylon straps add a second look if you're fed up with a sticky stainless steel bracelet in the midst of the summer heat. And while you might not be as funny as Ronny Chieng, who modeled for the brand's press photos, the colorful watches should bring a little smile to your face. They also feature the Rowing Blazers "Tempus Fugit" insignia on the caseback and "RB" on the crown. The watches were released earlier today for $495 each and are available via select retailers, including Rowing Blazers, Seiko USA, our own Hodinkee Shop, and the Rowing Blazers flagship in New York City. What We Think I don't think I've ever been accused of being someone who wears a lot of color, but every time either summer or the now annual Seiko collaboration with Rowing Blazers comes around, I get an itch to shake things up. In the last few years, we've seen some really cool releases from Rowing Blazers and Seiko that make me want to wear some color on my wrist. But then, like one of my favorite breakfast foods, I waffle. If you think twice about this latest collaboration, they're probably already gone. Will this year be different for me? I think it just might. While there are plenty of people who will pull the pink dial off tremendously, I think it might be a bit much for me. That said, I'm sure I'll see others wearing it and get some FOMO, but you really can't go wrong with yellow or purple, either.?The white dial, however, is probably my favorite. And in a great 40mm case and affordable price point, this is the perfect excuse to get in the beachy spirit for the summer. But just like a hotdog from a cart on the boardwalk, you should get it while they're hot (and before they're all gone).
