Dr. Sbastien Chaulmontet, Head Of Movement Design At Arnold & Son, To Lecture At The Horological Society Of New York
September 06, 2016
The technical development of the chronograph is a fascinating story, and there may be no one more qualified to tell it than Dr. Sbastien Chaulmontet, Head of Movement Design for Arnold & Son,?Angelus Watches, and La Joux-Perret. At the September meeting of the?Horological Society of New York, Dr. Chaulmontet will lecture on the history of the chronograph, from its predecessors to the creation of the so-called modern (pocket) chronograph. A Dent chronograph pocket watch. The reverse of the Dent chronograph. Moving towards present day, Chaulmontet will walk listeners through the industrialization of the complication, along with an overview of American pocket chronographs (which have their own story as well). He will highlight the three major bauche (blank) producers and discuss chronograph makers which used their own in-house movements. These include the likes of Angelus, Excelsior Park, Lemania, Longines, Minerva, Movado, and Universal Genve. Famous models from important brands like Breitling, Enicar, Heuer, Omega, Patek Philippe, Rolex, and Zenith will of course be included as well. Finally, he will present some interesting aspects of collecting antique and vintage chronographs specifically. Dr. Sbastien Chaulmontet About Sbastien Chaulmontet Sbastien Chaulmontet is the author, with Dr. Jo?l Pynson, of the book Chronographs for Collectors.
