Introducing: The Slim DHerms Titane
March 19, 2019
Herms is back with a casual addition to the Slim d'Herms collection called the Titane. Initially conceived and launched in 2015 by La Montre Herms creative director Philippe Delhotal, the Slim line has been expanding steadily over the last few years; we even teamed up with Herms to create not one, but two limited edition Slim models last fall. Between the gorgeous slim case and the simple dial that's chock full of beautiful details, its easy to see why the Slim dHerms was a home-run from the second it was released. While the watches have earned a sterling reputation for sticking to genuine manufacture watchmaking and representing a truly handsome execution in the slim dress category, this new Titane model breaks out of its shell a bit with a healthy injection of orange as an accent color. Youll find a smattering on the dial, but in a restrained fashion thats typical of a maker like Herms. It's not a loud dial design by any means, but it's bold enough to say that this isnt a very unique take on the fan favorite. The new orange hue is reflected in the burnishing on the matte graphite leather strap as well.? The dial is created from three distinct elements, lending a sort of depth that contributes to the strong identity of the Slim dHerms collection. The Philippe ApeloigCdesigned typeface is cut out on the chapter ring, allowing the anthracite dial to show through. A casual dose of orange is present at the 12 and six o'clock indices, and the baton hand on the small seconds counter wears the same color.? Housing the thin H1950 movement is a 39.5 mm diameter case made from micro-blasted grade-2 titanium, and the bezel has a soft, satin brushed finish. This addition is perhaps the most casual timepiece we've seen in the Slim d'Herms collection so far.? Initial Thoughts The Slim d'Herms collection is truly a standout. When it comes to the ultra-thin dress watch category, there are few choices that rival what Herms is bringing to the table. We've already consistently witnessed a steadfast commitment to nailing minutiae with every other execution of this watch, so its no surprise to see that Herms doesnt skimp on any single aspect of this new Titane version. You still get the smoked crystal, a detail that allows one to stare at this face for hours. As a dedicated tool watch guy, the use of orange on the small seconds hand makes it a comfortable pivot to get into the slim dress category. It's easy to still feel sporty with the Titane; I don't feel like Id have to throw on a black tie ensemble to pull this one off. As with anything Herms does, the strap gets the same level of commitment to detail and craftsmanship, and I like the color-matched burnishing. When it comes to the Titane, it really is all about the packing a crazy amount of perfectly executed details into a simple package.?
