Introducing: The A. Lange & Sohne Little Lange 1 Moon Phase '25th Anniversary'

By now you already know it's a big year for the Lange 1. This beauty here is the penultimate release (ninth of ten) to mark the 25th Anniversary of the family.?At 36.8 mm, it is the first reference to come in the smaller little Lange 1 package, which debuted in 2017. Limited to 25 pieces, the two-toned blue steel hands, argent dial and blue printing theme continues. Like Stephen has touched on in the past, this treatment is wonderful. It really has to be seen to be appreciated. The printed dial adds a level of informality and the blue just really pops against the silver. On the case back we see the blue-filled engraving of the balance cock with the small inlayed 25 date window.?On the back, the manufacture calibre L121.2, as you'd expect, painstakingly finished, polished and decorated by hand, runs at a frequency of 21,600 semi-oscillations an hour and, with a twin mainspring barrel, only needs to be wound every three days. Initial Thoughts Im a fan. Its no secret that I have a huge amount of respect for the brand and the Lange 1 is the stud in the line-up. The star of the show here (sorry, I had to) is without question the moonphase. Up close, the hand work on show really is a piece of art. Having seen the watch being worn on a female wrist, proportionally, much like the dial, its perfectly balanced. Traditionally this size has been squarely focused on the female market, but given the success of various reissue pieces in and around that size within the last 12 months, it would also look great on smaller male wrists.?That said, with a continued downsizing going on, and the rise in interest in mechanics and finishing among female buyers, I have no doubt this little guy will be gone before we know it.
