Introducing: The H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Concept C Horological Minimalism At Its Finest

December 14, 2015

We are very used to seeing calendar watches wearing dials as complicated as their movements. With a multitude of indications to tell us the date it is common to see these watches with three to four subdials. This complex aesthetic lends to the visual impact of the watch, just like seeing a tourbillon at six o'clock tends to do. One brand does it differently though, focusing on minimalism first. That brand is H. Moser & Cie., and in 2005 they launched their iconic Endeavour Perpetual Calendar (originally developed by Andreas Strehler). For the Endeavour's 10th anniversary, H. Moser & Cie. has taken their famous minimalism one step further with the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Concept. The Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Concept's dial has only one thing on it, which is an absolutely stunning fum design. There are no logo, indexes, names, or markers of any kind C not even the ubiquitous "Swiss Made" label. (The original Endeavour Perpetual Calendar has indexes, a logo, a seconds hand, and power reserve indication markers.) This dichotomy between simplicity and complexity works perfectly for the Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Concept because of the way it indicates the months. A small central arrow hand points out the month the same way the hour hand points out the hours. Simple, ingenious, and effective. We too often see brands improving on classic designs by making them bigger and flashier; seeing the opposite happen is seriously refreshing. The Endeavour Perpetual Calendar Concept is available now in a limited edition of 10 pieces in white gold. The Original Endeavor Perpetual Calendar alongside the Endeavor Perpetual Calendar Concept.
