October 27, 2023

While Herms retains its status as a perennial icon of luxury leather goods, in recent years, we've seen the brand channel its unique design language and penchant for exquisite quality into its watch offerings with equal fervor. With the release of the H08 family at Watches And Wonders 2021, the sporty-chic evolution within the brand's catalog was met with immediate success and has continued to achieve popularity rivaling that of its own Birkin. In fact, we were so infatuated with the H08 that we worked with the brand to create our own take on it that same year. This spring, we first reported on the new Rose Gold rendition of the H08 that debuted at this year's Watches And Wonders. Now, the time has finally arrived for us to welcome that rose gold beauty into the Hodinkee Shop, but we didn't stop there. Continuing our Herms fanfare, we've added quite a few new timepieces to our digital storefront and are reintroducing many of our old favorites, too. So without further ado, let's get on with the watch stuff, shall we? H08 In Titanium And Rose Gold Beginning with what is arguably the pice de rsistance of this Herms roundup, this rose gold and Titanium imagining of the H08 serves modern luxury along with its signature sportiness in equal measure. The rose gold (18K, no less) is utilized within the design in an unexpected yet welcome, understated manner. The rosy tones of the case, numerals, and hands warm the austere black hues of the DLC-coated titanium inner case, dial, crown, and rubber strap.? This H08 achieves its signature lightweight feel despite the addition of 18K rose gold by utilizing titanium for the interior case structure. Within this watch, you'll find the self-winding Herms manufacture Caliber H1837, which boasts a power reserve of 50 hours and is on full display through the exhibition case back. The Rose Gold and Titanium H08 maintains its established case diameter of 39mm. Still, something about the addition of the rose gold itself imparts a unisex appeal that surpasses other members of its sporty family. Slim dHerms Quantime Perptuel In Rose Gold And Titanium Even among the Herms catalog of timepieces, the complexity of this watch demonstrates a particular mastery of form and function while still leaving room for horological joy. The Slim d'Herms Quantime Perptuel is marked by its elegant slim profile along with its interplay of formal good looks with the playful audacity that Herms' design is synonymous with.? This impressive balance is achieved in large part thanks to the intriguing Arabic numerals quintessential to the Slim d'Herms family, originally created by French Graphic designer Philippe Apeloig. Of the four sub-dials, the moon phase sub-dial immediately enchants with its mother-of-pearl moon set against the aventurine glass sky.? The in-house manufactured H1950 automatic caliber might only measure 2.6mm thick, but it still boasts a host of calendar functions, a micro-rotor, and 43 hours of power reserve. As a true perpetual calendar, the H1950 accounts for both leap years and 30 vs. 31-day months and represents the prestigious peak of calendar complications. All in all, this timepiece reflects Herms' unique ability to toy with a unique mixing of metals while still crafting a watch with ample black tie appeal. Slim D'Herms Squelette Lune In Titanium And Platinum Here, we have another prime example of Herms implementing mixed materials in a manner that both exemplifies its stature as a fine watchmaker and leans into its quintessential boldness. The use of cutting-edge materials is on full display with the unique interplay of the skeletonized titanium dial, polished platinum bezel, and 18K white gold crown.? Encircling the black gold flange, you'll find the signature typeface designed by the aforementioned Philippe Apeloig, marking the hours. Deep navy blues and rich blacks are playfully mixed together, while accents of Herms signature orange serve to enhance the overall sporty appeal of this watch. The titanium case has received a PVD coating in a shade of midnight blue, which imparts a thin and uniform coating that enhances this H08's sleek good looks.
