Introducing: The Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Geographic
April 02, 2025
This year at Watches and Wonders, Jaeger-LeCoultre continues developing the successful "Tribute" line with a new Reverso Tribute Geographic. It's a take on a travel time watch that's very different in execution from the model it cites in inspiration C the '90's JLC Reverso Gographique Dual Time. This newly released Reverso Tribute Geographic presents a significantly pared-down aesthetic to align with the design language of the current Tribute series. The case measures 49.4mm in length (essentially lug-to-lug) and 29.9mm horizontally, with a case height of 11.14mm. For context, the dimensions are identical to the current Reverso Tribute Chronograph, meaning that it's on the larger side of a Reverso, especially in vertical wrist span. On the dial side of the Reverso, polished and faceted applied indices frame the sunburst dial with small seconds blue on the steel case and chocolate for the pink gold limited edition. New to the Geographique is an oversized two-digit date display, framed on the dial above the JLC logo with a metal appliqu. The date features a 2021 patent by the brand, one where the digit discs sit side-by-side (instead of one above the other, as seen in most oversized date complications). The right disc features hooks on the disc to match when the left digit needs to change over, and essentially pulls the other disc with it when it is time to change from the 19th to the 20th, for example. The most notable addition to this Geographic is, of course, the caseback flip the midcase around on the swivel and you'll find a subtle twist on a typical world timer. In the center of the caseback sits a laser-engraved world map, with land masses and grid lines engraved in relief while the hollowed-out portions of the oceans are filled in by hand with lacquer. The disc is then polished for the final result. Surrounding the map is a transparent window with a rotating 24-hour ring underneath, marked accordingly with day/night coloring. When setting through the hidden pusher between the top lugs of the case, the rotating ring jumps in increments of one hour. The Grande Date and travel time complication is powered by the new in-house Calibre 834, one designed for these complications from the ground up rather than being a module on top of a time-only movement. The new Reverso Tribute Geographic comes with two interchangeable straps by Casa Fagliano, the longtime supplier of Reverso straps. The steel version comes with a blue canvas and calfskin straps and is priced at $21,200, while the 18k pink gold limited edition of 150 pieces comes with a tan calf leather and black alligator straps and is priced at $34,900. What We Think I've enjoyed Jaeger-LeCoultre's continuing expansion of the Tribute line, with its sharp faceted indices and great dial colors. This new Reverso Tribute Geographic excites me in the same way as the Tribute Chronograph does, if only because they present great twists on the utility of the caseback without necessarily sticking to the traditional "Duoface" design. But also just like the Tribute Chronograph, this larger case size loses the elegance that many of the other Reverso Tributes offer on the wrist, and in my case, it's entirely too big to wear. But let's assume that you don't have my baby wrists and that you can, in fact, pull off the larger case size on this Reverso. I think the design and execution here work well, though visually there doesn't really seem to be any visual connection to the earlier version. Dare I say it's too clean to be connected to the original? Yes, they are both world-timers in their own right, but I almost wish that there was some of the absolute funkiness that came with that previous model. But take away the historical connection, and this new Tribute Geographic absolutely stands up on its own as a distinctive design. I'm enjoying seeing the addition of more complications to this line, and hope that in the next few years, we might see them come to smaller case sizes.
