Introducing: The Longines Hydroconquest In Green

On top of the blue, grey, and black executions, there's now a pair of green Longines Hydroconquest watches in the mix. The model comes in two sizes, 41mm and 43mm, and Longines is onto something in offering the same watch in two different case sizes. The new hue is reminiscent of olive drab, a color widely used in military applications. The watches are?made for conquests of the sea after all, and 300 meters of water resistance backs that up.? The addition of green rounds out the Hydroconquest collection to four colors. It's a trendy color in the watch world of 2020, so it's not surprising that Longines got in on the action with the Hydroconquest.?The Hydroconquest was first introduced by Longines all the way back in 2007 and has been with us ever since as Longines' primary modern dive watch collection C in contrast to its vintage-style divers, which include the Legend Diver and Skin Diver. Initial Thoughts The design language of the Hydroconquest seems to riff off elements that are widely familiar to the horologically inclined: The hands and the arabic numerals call to mind iconic designs that have been battle-tested for the better half of a century. The uni-directional bezel employs a typeface which has become standard in the dive watch world as well. But what's entirely new is the caliber inside. Longines was one of the early adopters of the Supercompressor case in the '60s, a design by EPSA that actually became more water resistant the deeper it went. Longines revived the the design language four years ago with the Legend Diver, but the Hydroconquest doesn't work off any existing model. Instead, the line represents a new design from Longines C one that looks?to the future rather than the past.
