Introducing: The Montblanc Heritage Chronomtrie Collection Twincounter Date
January 05, 2016
Yesterday we talked about the new Montblanc?Heritage Chronomtrie?Annual Calendar Chronograph,?and today we are taking a look at the new?Montblanc?Chronomtrie?Collection?Twincounter Date wristwatch C an equally elegant, well-made, and affordable watch to be officially?released at?SIHH?in a few weeks.? Montblanc, as you may know, has had quite a major resurgence in recent years in their design and quality. They have released some pretty cool watches of late, including the?1858 Chronograph?Tachymeter,?the Villeret?Tourbillon Cylindrique Geosphres Vasco?da Gama, and?the Heritage?Chronomtrie?Quantime?Annual Calendar. As Ben mentioned yesterday,?Montblanc?CEO Jerome Lambert pulls a lot of his inspiration from his time at?Jaeger?LeCoultre?and A. Lange &?Sohne, and that is apparent in the design of the entire Heritage Collection. The new watch you see here is the new Heritage Chronomtrie Collection?Twincounter?Date. As far as complications are concerned, it falls between the Annual Calendar and the Ultra Slim that Jack reviewed here. The Twincounter?features a familiar stainless-steel case that measures 40?mm (instead of 38 like the Ultra Slim) and is 9.85 mm in thickness, which is 4.05 mm more than the Ultra Slim. The watch features an automatic-winding caliber?MB 24.23 movement with a 38-hour power reserve. The complications on this watch are the very useful date function, indicated on the right-hand subsidiary dial?with constant seconds visible on the left-hand subsidiary dial. The blued steel arrow-form date hand is a shout out to Minerva, and the signature arrow-tipped chronograph lever found in its chronograph movement (acquired by?Montblanc?in 2006). ? For me, this watch is fantastic. The layout is clean and traditional, but the Arabic typeface used by Montblanc for the 12 and 6 keep things fresh. I also think that having the date displayed on a subsidiary dial instead of the standard aperture display heightens the elegance of the watch ever?so slightly and makes you wonder if it is an annual calendar. And the price? $2,845, which isnt unusual for Montblanc, but definitely is for a watch like this.Be sure to check back for updates on the Montblanc SIHH releases here.
