Introducing: The Unimatic x Todd Snyder 'Modello Tre' Chronograph Limited Edition

Todd Snyder, a U.S.-based clothing brand, has just released a new Unimatic "Modello Tre" chronograph called the U3FB-TS. The watch was inspired by designer, founder, and brand president Todd Snyder's love of everything from Saville Row to military workwear. The new watch trends heavily toward the latter, with a blacked-out PVD-coated stainless steel case and military olive dial, all in a 41.5mm by 13.7mm package. The new U3FB-TS comes in a sleeker package due to the lack of a bezel. While on the thicker side, it has 300m of water resistance while housing a VK64 Meca-quartz movement. Due to the movement, the watch has the unusual combination of 9 o'clock subdial with 60-minute chronograph totalizer and a 3 o'clock 24-hour time indicator.?The orange-tipped chronograph hand and subdial hands pop against the dial, while the reverse-panda-style design has off-white subdials and hands. The watch is a numbered 100-piece limited edition. Todd Snyder fell in love with the Unimatic brand years ago and added them to his seasonal Pinterest boards for inspiration. Still, he was only recently able to bring a collaboration to life. What We Think In the last year, I've gone full-tilt Todd Snyder. As I sit at my desk right now, nearly every piece of clothing I wear is Todd Snyder (don't ask what isn't), along with almost every piece of clothing I've worn in the past few days as well. Not only is Snyder a long-time friend of Hodinkee, but he's one of us: a watch guy with his perspective trending more toward the design and aesthetic qualities that make his clothing great (if you want to learn more about that, check out the video we did with Todd last year). So, while this isn't some sexy movement or high-horology piece, it feels thoughtfully "Todd" from a design angle. A blacked-out case and olive accents are like catnip for me. While I might not own as much military khaki as our resident olive-jacket-wearing EIC, parts of my closet look like an army surplus store. The olive appears punchy and saturated in the brand's pack shots, but it matches the creamy "stone" subdials quite well. I wasn't planning on buying another Unimatic so soon, but I fear the FOMO will hit me pretty hard if I don't.
