Introducing: Three New Radiomirs From Panerai

May 01, 2015

Panerai is updating their Radiomir and Radiomir 1940 collections with three new timepieces showcasing some new materials paired with the now familiar in-house calibers. For the first time, the Radiomir collection will now host Panerais P.5000, eight-day power reserve movement, and the Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic that we introduced to you last year has been given a titanium case. The new watches represent an expansion of Panerais Neuchatel-built manufacture movements. Lets take a closer look at each of the new watches. The Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic Titanio (PAM00619) The new 3 Days Automatic now comes in a titanium case, but its not a uniform application. The 45 mm case features two different types of titanium: the band of the case is grade 2 titanium, while the bezel and crown are grade 5. The mixture saves on weight and offers a higher contrast brushed finishing between the two. The new case joins the existing steel and red gold models already available. Inside the 3 Days Automatic is Panerais P.4000 caliber, which was the brands first foray into micro-rotors when it was introduced last year. Panerai calls it a decentralized rotor and it helps in keeping the movements height in check. As the name suggests, the movement offers three days of power reserve, but since its an automatic, keeping the watch ticking along shouldnt be much of a hassle.?The Radiomir 1940 3 Days Automatic Titanio is priced at $10,700 The Radiomir Black Seal 8 Days (PAM00609), And 8 Days Acciaio (PAM00610) The two new Radiomir 8 Days Acciaio watches bring Panerais P.5000 caliber to the Radiomir family for the first time. The P.5000 was introduced back in 2013, and has since lived exclusively in the Luminor line of watches. Its a hand-wound movement that provides a full eight days (192 hours) of reserve and Panerais trademark no-frills design and decoration visible through the back. The Black Seal 8 Days is labeled as such at 12 oclock on the dial, and further differs from the standard model with a sub dial at 9 oclock to display the seconds. The Black Seal name honors the men in the Italian Royal Navys "Gamma Group," which operated in the 1930s with the aid of Panerai instruments. Both the Black Seal and the standard 8 Days are offered in 45 mm steel cases. Each feature a lumed sandwich dial and trademark large Arabic numerals at their corners. The Radiomir Black Seal 8 Days (PAM00609) is priced at $6,400, and the 8 Days Acciaio (PAM00610) is priced at $6,800.
