Introducing: Vacheron Adds New Green Dials To Its Overseas Collection
April 10, 2024
The Overseas collection has been frequently used as a vehicle for the brand to experiment with color. Now, Vacheron joins the ranks of fine watchmakers adding various shades of green to its repertoire, expanding the scope of the deep emerald sunray dials introduced in its Traditionelle collection into its most sporty line, pairing this new hue with 18K pink gold case and bracelet. Small watch skeptics will be pleased that only one of the watches out of the four novelties measures 35mm, and yes, it does feature a diamond-set bezel. In addition to this small-wrist-friendly time and date model, its other green-hued compatriots include a 41mm time and date model, a 42.5mm chronograph, and a 41mm dual time model. Other than the newly introduced color palette, there aren't many differences to note between previously released overseas models C but I say this neutrally. Sometimes, you don't need a total overhaul or revolution when you've got something good going. Aligning with its sporty versatility in function as well as its design ethos, each piece is water resistant up to 150 meters and features a screw-down crown. Additionally, the Pink Gold bracelet that matches the case can be easily swapped out without tools with the inclusion of a quick-release folding clasp, and each watch comes with an additional leather and rubber strap, both in a green shade that matches the dial. As for the movement, all four models are powered by variations of 4Hz self-winding calibers with an oscillating weight crafted in 22K pink gold engraved with the compass rose that is the Overseas collection's signature (I'll get into the specifics of each movement in the specs below). What We Think Nothing says money quite like the combination of green and gold. But given the relatively deep and muted tones of this particular expression of green, I would argue that these pink gold and green overseas exude money more so in a seductive whisper rather than an obnoxious scream. This line has a little something for everybody in terms of sizing and functionality, which, I have said before and will say again, is typically a smart move to soothe the varying needs of the crowd. Still, I find it interesting just how strong the green watch phenomenon is going on across the board. There's almost a years-long, coordinated effort afoot to make green the new neutral. Feel free to weigh in on this in the comments and stoke on your thoughts on the Green Dial Movement C I really am curious if it's as popular among the people as the current watchmaking landscape indicates.
