Introducing: The Vacheron Constantin Traditionnelle Tourbillon

Earlier this year Vacheron Constantin launched a brand new ladies' collection C grie C as its first new collection for women since 2003. Continuing along with women's pieces, Vacheron is releasing two new versions of the Traditionnelle Tourbillon, the Tourbillon in pink gold and the Tourbillon Jewelry in white gold set with pav diamonds. This marks the first automatic tourbillon for women produced by Vacheron, and it fits nicely in the Traditionnelle collection. Both watches are classic in their design with a 39mm case with the exposed tourbillon cage at 6 o'clock. The watch is powered by the caliber 2160 which is used in the original Traditionnelle Tourbillon and the Overseas Tourbillon and has an 80-hour power reserve.?The watch comes in two versions, one in pink gold with a diamond-set case (bezel, band, lugs, between the lugs, you get the picture) and a mother of pearl dial. The other is white gold that is completely iced out with 559 diamonds that weigh 6.59 ct. The rose-gold version is $142,000 and the white gold is $197,000. Initial Thoughts As I have said on this site many times before, I am not a tourbillon gal. So putting that aside, I would like to say that the Traditionnelle Tourbillon is rather impressive. Vacheron released its first tourbillon wristwatch in 1990 and has been tweaking it ever since. This version uses the newest tourbillon movement C the slim in-house caliber 2160/1 C that was first used in 2018. It is an automatic version of the original 14-Day Tourbillon, and while the power reserve is only three days, it is much easier to wear on the wrist due to its size. The watch itself is 39mm in diameter and 11.22mm thick which makes it relatively comfortable to wear. But let's not get it twisted: this tourbillon wristwatch is a jewelry watch. It just happens to have a really badass movement in it. Both watches are extremely well-finished and boast numerous diamonds (850 in total to be exact). And while I am sure this watch makes quite the statement in the real world, it is great to see Vacheron continue to develop watches for women and use their high mechanical chops to do so.
