Introducing: With Nine New Models, Raymond Weil Expands Its Award-Winning Millesime Collection
May 13, 2025
With the announcement of nine new models this spring, Raymond Weil proves that brands don't necessarily have to wait until an anniversary year to make a significant impact. While the Geneva-based family-owned watchmaker approaches its 50th anniversary in 2026, it's making a bold statement now with six new 35mm models and three new 39mm chronographs in its acclaimed Millesime collection, effectively building on the considerable success of the original model's release.? Let's start with the 2023 Grand Prix d'Horlogerie de Genve (GPHG) winner in the Challenge category, the Millesime small seconds. This collection is expanding with four new 35mm models that preserve the vintage spirit and fine horological details that define the collection's success. Three come in stainless steel: a salmon dial with a grey strap, an anthracite dial with mint-colored accents and a patinated brown leather strap, and a silver dial on a grey strap. The fourth option features a cream dial, a rose gold PVD case, a burgundy strap, and a lug set with 16 lab-grown diamonds. The domed sapphire crystal enhances the retro feel while ensuring perfect legibility. For those who prefer a central seconds hand, Raymond Weil has added two variations: a sage green dial that offers delicate tonal depth that changes with the light and a sophisticated cream dial paired with a case set with 16 lab-grown diamonds. Both come on a five-link stainless steel bracelet that offers fluidity and comfort. Rounding out the novel collection additions are three new 39mm chronographs featuring sub-dials at 3, 6, and 9 o'clock, inspired by the "reverse panda" aesthetic. The stainless steel model sports an anthracite dial with silver sub-dials and vintage-style Super-LumiNova indices. A more luxurious rose gold PVD-coated steel version pairs a black dial with white counters for a dressier feel. With obelisk-style hands and a slim 12.9mm case profile, these chronographs offer optimal wrist comfort while the transparent case back reveals the beautifully finished movement inside. Speaking of movements, the small seconds models are powered by the RW4250 mechanical self-winding caliber, while the central seconds models use the RW4200, both offering 41 hours of power reserve. The chronographs feature the RW5030 automatic mechanical movement with an impressive 62 hours of power reserve. The 35mm Millesime collection is priced from $1,650 to $2,675, while the chronographs range from $3,625 to $3,775.? What We Think It's no surprise that Raymond Weil won the GPHG Challenge Prize in 2023. This expanded Millesime collection impresses with its thoughtful blend of vintage-inspired design and modern refinement. The collection checks multiple boxes: elegant aesthetic (that salmon dial is particularly enticing), versatile sizing (the 35mm and 39mm cases are perfect for various wrist sizes), and accessible pricing amidst a very uncertain economic timeand I'm a big fan. I'm particularly drawn to their ability to blend in elements of traditional watchmaking sector dials and small seconds complicationswhile maintaining a contemporary feel. The subtle color variations and finishing techniques demonstrate Raymond Weil's attention to detail despite the accessible price point. As CEO Elie Bernheim states, these watches reflect the brand's "dedication to Swiss watchmaking traditions" while staying "accessible" - a philosophy that deserves recognition in today's market, where value propositions are increasingly important. I just wonder what the brand could possibly have up its sleeve for its 50th anniversary in 2026. If this collection is any indication, we're in for something special.
