Zodiac and Worn & Wound Team Up Again, This Time For A Game Of Laser Tag
September 28, 2023
Worn & Wound and Zodiac are back with their second '90s-inspired collaboration. This time, the duo has looked to a nostalgic pastime for inspiration, introducing the Super Sea Wolf "Laser Tag" Limited Editions.? The limited edition Super Sea Wolf comes in two colors, "Ultraviolet" and "Infrared," both featuring a 40mm stainless steel case coated with grey DLC that measures 40mm and 13.6mm thick (49mm lug-to-lug). The Ultraviolet's deep purple dial is accented by lighter mint, blue, and green markings and hands. Meanwhile, the Infrared's deep scarlet dial has accents of pink, red, and purple.?The real fun comes when you turn off the lights. In blacklight, each dial displays cross-hairs that glow, a fully illuminated chapter ring, and the lume of the hands, hour markers, and bezel in shades of bright green and blue. There are also lumed elements on the case. Even the strap has these laser-tag-inspired elements, displaying a crisscrossing glowing pattern when hit with blacklight.? In normal darkness, the essential elements remain glowing: hands, dial markers, and bezel pip.? The Zodiac x Worn & Wound Super Sea Wolf "Laser Tag" will be available for pre-order through W&W's Wind Up Watch Shop beginning on September 28 at 1pm ET. It's limited to 282 per color at a price of $1,595. The watches will begin shipping in early November.? What We Think The collaborators say the idea of using laser tag as the inspiration for a watch was originally conceived of by Worn & Wound's Zach Weiss. From there, two years of back-and-forth led to the two-watch collab. The Ultraviolet and Infrared leave no surface untouched, with special illumination on the dial, case, and even the leather strap. It's an all-out take on nostalgia, put on full display under blacklight.? The saturated colors also remind me of Worn & Wound's take on the Nivada Grenchen Datomaster from last year. There might be one or two colors too many for my taste, but the combinations are spot-on for the limited edition's '90s nostalgia and these LEs shine under the black light. The Laser Tags are pure fun, staying true to their inspiration.?It's also another exciting use of the Super Sea Wolf, one of the classic dive watches that has been adopted to become a great modern watch, too.?
