Introducing: The Oris Holstein Edition 2025
Today, Oris celebrates its birthday with the sixth installment in its annual Holstein Edition, a limited-edition watch designed to offer something a bit different for collectors to keep things interesting. In past years, we've seen funky dial colors and even an out-of-left-field revival of the brand's 90's era Full Steel travel time watch, and last year, a fully-blacked-out Divers Sixty-Five hit the proverbial shelves. This year, for the Holstein Edition 2025, Oris releases something a bit more toned down, though with a beary fun twist. It's...

It's a rare occasion when a brand revives an old movement C even rarer when the technology was revolutionary 60 years ago and maybe a bit anachronistic in the modern environment. Longines, one of the key Swiss watch brands controlled by Swatch Group AG, appointed a new president and Chief Executive Officer, the latest in a series of senior management changes at Swiss watchmakers. Patrick Aoun, a long-time Swatch Group executive, is taking over as head of the historic Longines brand, beginning this month, a company spokesperson confirmed. Aoun previously held the role of head of Middle East and Asia. Matthias Breschan, who led Longines for five years, stepped down for "personal reasons,'' the company spokesperson said. Mechaquartz is where it all started for Furlan Marri. The brand, which feels like it's been around for a lot longer than four years, caught many collectors' attention when it was founded with a Kickstarter, offering very heritage-inspired quartz versions of fan-favorite vintage chronographs. The brand has grown beyond itfar beyond, with perpetual calendars, mechanical chronographs, Discos Volante, and morebut mechaquartz chronographs make the entry point into their three-tiered approach. Now, their permanent collection has two new looks. The new 'Sabbia Rosa' and 'Ardesia Blu' chronographs (above and below, respectively) are bo...
Introducing: The Yema x seconde/seconde/ Yachtingraff
Amidst a sea of tool watches, Yema has always been unique. Since 1948, the brand has carved its identity with a flair that feels inherently and confidently French. From space to sea, from Superman divers to the Yachtingraf, Yema's archive is rich in eccentric French utility and unique panache, featuring big-eye subregisters, digital readouts, and crown tube-mounted bezel locks. The new Yema x seconde/seconde/ Yachtingraff (yes, that's "graff" with two F's) takes the regatta-ready tool watch and drags it through a back alley of Parisian misch...
Hands-On: The Ming 20.01 Series 5 Gets A Freaky New Dial
If you've ever considered adding a Ming to your collection, chances are you were smitten by one of the many crazy dials that the brand has created. There are simple ones, like on the Ming 37.02 Minimalist, playful ones like the star-studded Moonphase 37.05 Series 2, or really complex abstract dials like on the 20.01 Series 3. The brand, with Ming Thien's penchant to experiment with unique designs both in visual appearance and manufacturing techniques, has certainly never rested on its laurels. Yes, the design language is unmistakably Ming, but within that framework lies a whole cornucopia of models. ...
In watch industry business news this week, we're tracking executive changes in North America at Audemars Piguet and Panerai, as well as the appointment of a new chair at Chrono24. Ginny Wright, who joined Audemars Piguet as CEO of its North America operations in 2021, is departing the Swiss watchmaker known for its Royal Oak and Code 11:59 collections. Wright came to AP from the beauty industry and doubled the brand's retail footprint in the U.S. in her first year in the role, she told Nora Taylor in an interview profile in 2022. Ginny Wright. Wright, who joined us at House Of Craft last October, confirmed her departure, which...
Introducing: The Brew Metric Lite Collection: A Trio Of Tiny Brew Watches
Brew Watch Co. just launched its smallest watches ever with the Metric Lite trio. Considering that the Metric was already very compact in the space at 36mm, these three new watches in a 30mm case size are objectively tiny while still preserving the line's familiar identity to microbrand enthusiasts. When it comes to dial options, the steel case features both a deep, glossy black dial and a more playful mother-of-pearl dial, while the gold PVD case is paired with a black dial for a classic combination. As always, the coffee bean motif comes s...
In a surprise move, LeBron James has taken his talents to Richard Mille for the first-ever collaboration between one of watchmaking's most in-demand brands and any NBA player. And what a star to collaborate with: one of, if not the greatest basketball player of all time, the man from Akron, Ohio, LeBron Raymone James Sr. The new RM65-01 Selfwinding Split-seconds Chronograph "LeBron James," limited to 150 pieces, was revealed this weekend on the wrist (and Instagram) of King James at Fanatics Fest. Just like the recent RM72-01, which Charles LeClerc showcased his Monegasque heritage and Ferrari relationship, LeBron has incorporate...

This is the third time Panerai has collaborated with the America's Cup campaign, now featuring two new models with cool grey dials: the 150-piece limited edition Luminor Chrono Flyback Luna Rossa PAM01654 and the Luminor Luna Rossa PAM01653. The non-limited Luminor Luna Rosa is cased in 44mm AISI 316LVM - 1.4441 stainless steel (thickness was not given for either of the mo...
Hands-On: The Straum Jan Mayen Titanium, Now Featuring The Brands First Integrated Rubber Strap
The new Straum Jan Mayen Titanium makes me lay my right hand on a book on watchmaking and swear that my Nordic roots will not taint my objectivity. I have known the brand Straum for some years now, and seen the evolution of what is arguably one of Scandinavia's finest wrist exports. This latest evolution takes the game up a level. It should also be disclosed that I have not been a big fan of titanium until I bought a Ming last year, and my flip-flopping has now been confirmed. By offering a titanium case, Straum doubles down on comfort with a proprietary integrated strap that answers a difficult question. What do you do when you ...
Introducing: An Iron-Ore Inspired PanoLunarTourbillon From Glashtte Original
Glashtte Original just opened a new dial manufactory in the small watchmaking town mentioned in its name. To celebrate, production at this facility kicks off with a new limited edition of the PanoLunarTourbillon (yes, all one word). It's a more complicated take on the brand's well-known PanoMaticLunar, replacing the off-center small-seconds sundial with an oversized flying tourbillon. Of course, this certainly isn't the first PanoLunarTourbillon from the brand, but the newsworthy part of this is the dial and its specific origin. The brand cites inspiration from the iron ore surrounding the town of Glashtte in its color choices, but one might simply describe it ...

Introducing: The Biver Carillon Tourbillon Signature Series
Biver, now two years old, has recently announced the final version of its inaugural model, the Biver Carillon Tourbillon, with what the brand is calling its Signature Series. Based on their original Calibre JCB-001-B, the two models come in either titanium or two-tone titanium and 18-karat rose gold cases. The matching dials are crafted from 18-karat white gold and titanium, or 18-karat rose gold and titanium, with applied white gold chemin de fer outer tracks. We've covered the Biver Carillon Tourbillon pretty extensively in the past. It was a bold way to launch the brand, which has been iterated on a few times with different Me...
Introducing: Armin Strom Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Blue
Armin Strom is giving its flagship watch a frosty new look and feel with the Gravity Equal Force Ultimate Sapphire Blue. It's a fresh take on a horologically innovative timepiece first introduced in 2019. The brand hopes this new version invokes the calm tranquility of Switzerland's glacial lakes and Alpine light as it debuts amid the onset of summer heat in many parts of the world. This model is distinctly chromatic, with the showcase being the 'glacial' blue PVD mainplate with a guilloch pattern credited to no less an independent watchmaking legend than Kari Voutilainen. It's the base to show off Armin Strom's signature archit...
Introducing: Richard Mille RM30-01 LeMans Classic
Le Mans Classic returns this summer to the French countryside for its biennial celebration of the historic race cars that once battled through motorsport's most grueling endurance test. The 12th edition of Le Mans Classic runs from July 3 to 6, with around 750 classic race cars lapping the Circuit de la Sarthe as many times as possible in 24 hours, in six different categories ("grids") one for each of the major eras of automobiles of the past 24 Hours of Le Mans series from 1923 through to 1981. I forgot to put it on my schedule to try to visit this year, and my biennial reminder came (yet again) from a press release from Richard Mille about their tenth collaborative release since 2008. Th...
On June 26, 1801, Abraham-Louis Breguet patented one of the most iconic and beloved (despite of C or maybe because of C their anachronistic qualities) ideas in watchmaking: the tourbillon. However, I was shocked to discover that, as of yesterday, Breguet had never released a flying tourbillonthat being a tourbillon that is supported on only one side, rather than by a bridge or multiple points of contact, giving the effect of the regulating organ floating in mid-air. Well, 224 years to the day after the patent of the tourbillon, Breguet just announced a 50-piece limited edition with the brand's first-ever flying tourbillon, the Classique Tourbillon Sidral 7255. ...
For the past three years, the folks at Glashtte Original have been toiling away on something remarkable. No, it's not a new movement or reference (though those have certainly also been under development at the same time). Instead, it's something far more impactful to their production and capabilities. Just up the street from its headquarters and manufacture, within the small Saxon village for which it is named, Glashtte Original has built a brand new dial-making facility. This added capacity for production, according to the brand, means that well over 95% of the parts and components of its watches are now produced within the boundaries of Glashtte itself. Rece...
