Introducing: TAG Heuer Redesigns The Mechanical Formula 1 Chronograph
This year, on the 75th anniversary of Formula 1, Tag Heuer takes the Crown, so to speak, and becomes the motorsport's Official Timekeeper. In a highly speculated move stemming from last year's official announcement of Rolex being replaced by LVMH via a 10-year partnership with the sport, many correctly assumed that TAG Heuer would be the brand to place their name high and wide at the races. After all, the brand has had quite a relationship with F1 in the past. It's not a surprise to anyone, I'm sure, that the brand has taken this opportunity to come out with a few novelties under their Formula 1 collection C this time, the collec...
Welcome to "How To Wear It," where our Style Editor Malaika Crawford takes one beloved watch and shows you how to make it look its best C with styling tips and tricks, a delve into the current fashion discourse, some historical references, and a dash of British sarcasm thrown in for good measure. Hello, and welcome back. It's been a while. The How To Wear It hiatus was a chance to breathe, reconfigure, and reinvigorate a (what felt like) saturated mind with fresh ideas. It allowed me to reconnect with the excitement and desire I had been missing in styling and explore perspectives beyond my ownan exercise I try to practice regularly. The convergence of fashion an...
Staff Picks: Watch-Related Valentine's Gifts For Our Colleagues
We've made it to the halfway point of February, and that means it's time for everyone's favorite gift-giving nonholiday, Valentine's Day. To celebrate a day that is often filled with roses, chocolates, and souvenir stuffed bears, we figured it would be fun to skip all that clich nonsense and focus on what we know best: watches and the myriad tastes of our multi-faceted colleagues.?As such, I offered the edit team something of a challenge and assigned each team member a valentine with a hypothetical budget of up to $1000 (generous, I know) to pick a watch or a watch-themed gift for the selected colleague. From activity-themed smartwatches to bedazzled G-Shocks, Leica optics, and many other?o...
Gatherings: An Evening in Celebration of the Newest IWC Ingenieur
Recently, a select group of collectors and enthusiasts from the Hodinkee community braved New York City's winter weather to gather with our own Ben Clymer and IWC's Chief Design Officer Christian Knoop at the IWC Madison Avenue Flagship boutique. The main attraction was undoubtedly the deep blue dial of the new Ingenieur Automatic 40 (Ref. IW328907). Warmed by fireplaces, cocktails, and espresso drinks from the boutique's bar, guests were invited to try on IWC's latest creations and treated to an enlightening conversation between Ben and Christian about the rich history of the Ingenieur. Appropriately for a watch whose name translates to "engineer," the conversation also delved into the comp...
Introducing: G-SHOCK G-STEEL Fine Metallic Blends Cool Metal With Silicone Wearability
You're looking at the newest technology from G-Shock, though what is so new might be hard to spot at first. These are metal G-Shocks, but not in the way you might be thinking. A new series called the "Fine Metallic Series" just dropped with six offerings across the rectangular GM-5600YM and octagonal GM2100YM "Casio-Oak" lines. With steel bezels (some with gold-toned coating), they give a hint of the experience you might get with the higher-priced Full Metal series, but they debut a new "Tough Silicone" band in place of metal bracelets, technology that took a decade of development. Under the stainless steel bezels (featuring a mi...
Introducing: Frederique Constant x Watch Angels Worldtimer Manufacture Limited Edition
Frederique Constant is no stranger to collaborative releases, but their new project with the watch collector community (and habillage producer), Watch Angels, is a particularly strong one. The new limited edition Worldtimer Manufacture has been downsized from 42mm to just over 40mm, with a reshaped and brushed stainless steel case and a polished bezel. The dial has been rethought with a focus on clarity and legibility with the removal of the date subdial, inclining the city disc to add depth, and a sun and moon display (for day and night) that has been given an elegant simplification. That new stainless steel case, with sloping l...

Each piece brings something distinct, from revolutionary movements to centuries-old artisanal techniques, creating a lineup that spans from sporty to dressy. Let's take a closer look at this trio of timepieces, which launched recently and will be excl...
Bring a Loupe: A Square Crown Guard Submariner, A 'Paul Newman' Dial, And A Geneva Sport
Happy Friday, happy Valentine's Day, and welcome back to Bring A Loupe! After writing, reading, and re-reading a near dissertation on Rolex Daytonas with Panda Paul Newman dials, my mind is still firmly focused on "exotic" subdials. That said, I am completely aware that $400,000+ Newmans are not for everyone. The focus this week is a bit more accessible. The picks include an exotic dial for less than $5,000 and a 1960s London bathtub-shaped wristwatch for less than $200. But first, results. Two for four last week, good enough for the Baseball Hall of Fame, I'll take it. Our Patek ref. 1486 in Barcelona sold quite quickly (and to a Bring A Loupe reader!) at the as...
Introducing: G-Shock Gives The MRGB-2100 The 'Ao-Zumi' Treatment
Today, G-SHOCK launched a new addition to its flagship, high-end MR-G series: the MRG-B2100R-2A. While the rectangular G-SHOCK icon of the 5000 series received the MR-G treatment a few years ago, last year marked the first time the highly popular 2100 series received a luxury makeover, with two examples in titanium and COBARION. To kick off the year, G-SHOCK introduces a third version of the MRG-B2100, this time in the popular "Ao-zumi" hue that we also saw in the MRG-B5000BA with a glossy black DLC-coated titanium case, deep blue accents inspired by Japanese ink wash coloring, and a small touch of gold. Just like the other octagonal-bezel variants in the line, t...
Just Because: All Of The Special Edition Releases At British Watchmakers Day 2025
Last year, the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers held the first-ever exhibition designed to showcase British watchmaking through all of its trade members and brands. With over 40 exhibitors, the event showcased many special edition watches from the exhibiting brands, available only to the people attending the event in person. And, of course, we can't ignore that the one and only Roger Smith, chairman of the Alliance, even put a Series One up for the event in a closed-bid auction with a donation to the group, hammering eventually at a vague "well over double its original reserve price of GBP 295,000." This year, British Watchmakers' Day is back, with more...
We're starting to glimpse at the release cycle for the "new" Louis Vuitton. The brand is balancing out the Tambour one year with the Escale the next, then back to the Tambour with the Taiko Spin Times this year. While those Spin Times captivated people's attention during LVMH watch week, a whole other set of Tambours was on display that excited folks. In the style of the relaunched model from 2023 and while they weren't officially embargoed, the brand only sent out press releases this week. Two limited high-end releases in Platinum (with rainbow gem-set treatment) and yellow gold with an Onyx dial (and saffron sapphires) are joined by a non-limited brown ceramic reference. ...
Reviews of the new Audemars Piguet
Last year, AP bid farewell to one of its most historic movements. In 1978, the Caliber 2120/2800 was announced as the world's thinnest perpetual calendar. It became the base for all AP QPs, and the caliber was modified and improved for 46 years before its (second to) last ride as the Caliber 5134 in John Mayer's Limited Edition Royal Oak. But the perpetual calendar is AP's most iconic complication, so there was no doubt they'd have something new coming. The day is finally here. Today's newly released Royal Oaks and Code 11.59 house the new Caliber 7138 perpetual calendar movement, and it's a big leap forward for AP. There are sev...
Introducing: The Omega Seamaster Diver 300M In Bronze Gold And Burgundy
Today, Omega unveiled the next iteration of its iconic diving watch, the Omega Seamaster Diver 300M, now in Bronze Gold and Burgundy. It is only natural that this edition pays homage to the previous 300m 007 Edition launched in 2020 for the 2020 James Bond film No Time To Die. We don't know who will be playing the next James Bonda topic I certainly would enjoy discussing over a shaken martini. So, while we may have to wait a while for the next Bond film, we don't have to wait any longer for the next execution of a watch that Bond helped put on the map in the '90, the Seamaster Professional 300M.? The watch showcases Omega's prop...
Happenings: Yoni Ben-Yehuda To Lecture At The Horological Society Of New York
The current watch market is in a fascinating state, blending traditional luxury with modern innovation and shifting consumer preferences. To understand how we got here and what the future of watch collecting looks like, especially in the U.S., it's essential to explore the evolution of the market, the underlying factors shaping it today, and what collectors need to keep in mind when curating their collections in 2025. At the March 2025 lecture of the Horological Society of New York (HSNY), Yoni Ben-Yehuda, Head of Watches at Material Good, will lecture on the current watch market, its evolution, and what the future of watch collecting may look like. Ben-Yehuda wi...
Introducing: The Laurent Ferrier Classic Traveller Globe Night Blue
Your favorite watchmaker's favorite watchmaker, Laurent Ferrier, celebrates the 15th anniversary of his eponymous brand with a new iteration of what we at Hodinkee see as his flagship modelthe Classic Traveller. It is one of the industry's most visually captivating, classically styled world-time watches and the platform on which we created a Hodinkee Limited Edition in 2017. While we have not had a chance to go hands-on with this new edition, I am quite familiar with that 2017 LE, and I can confidently say it is among the best fifteen modern watches I have ever handled. Like that Hodinkee LE, today's Globe Night Blue riffs on a ...
Introducing: Nomos Adds Two Cosmic Colorways To The Club Campus Collection
The Club Campus from Nomos Glashtte continues to be, year after year, one of the best value propositions in the horological sphere. A no-nonsense, slim, manual three-hander available in 36 and 38.5-millimeter case sizes from a brand with a lot of horological chops at a price well under the $2k mark makes the Club Campus always a great recommendation I can make to anyone asking about picking up their first mechanical watch, or to collectors that are just looking for something fun and off the beaten path of the typical Swiss brands. Of course, being a Nomos release, the fun coloring is the other half of the appeal, and for this year's refresh, we get two new dial treatments called "Night Sky"...
Introducing: Ice Blue, Pastel Pink, and Dark Green: Citizen's New 37mm Tsuyosa Trio
Citizen's Tsuyosa collection launched in 2023 and seemed to answer the market demand for colorful dialed integrated steel sports watches at an affordable price point. Released in five colors, with a 40mm case, and at $450, it was a compelling entry into the space. I've seen quite a few of them in the wild, many on the wrists of folks just starting to dive down the rabbit hole of mechanical watches. Since then, Citizen has pushed out a few more dial colors and a collection of Tsuyosas with guilloche-style dials and small seconds sans date window. These have all remained in the 40mm case size, but today, Citizen changed all that wi...
Introducing: The Timex x The New Yorker Centennial Watch
When you think of watch collaborations with magazines, prestigious legacy publications rarely come to mind. Yet, in a delightful twist,The New Yorker has partnered with Timex to celebrate a hundred years of publishing. This collaboration feels natural, pairing America's storied magazine with a watchmaker whose East Coast heritage runs equally deep. They have come together for a very charming take on the manually-wound Timex Marlin with The Timex x The New Yorker Centennial Watch. With this New Yorker edition, it's all about the dial. Sitting on a glossy white dial is a portion of the New York Skyline, with an iconic art style tha...
Bring a Loupe: A Piece Unique Chopard, A London Tank Allonge, And An Art Deco Purse Watch
Welcome back to Bring A Loupe, and happy Friday! This week's selection starts with a watch I have never seen before, and I can imagine you haven't either. Then, it moves on to some old classics from our friends at Cartier London and, of course, Movado. Buckle in. As for results from last week, I am happy to report that one of the nicest Tudor Submariners to ever come to market has found a new home for $80,000. The 1930s Geneva Sport Chronograph sold relatively quickly at the asking price of $6,300C congrats to PeteAron on the pickup! On eBay, our Old England "Jumbo Baignoire" sold in a flash at $199, and the Bulova Accutron for Hershey Chocolate Company was marke...
