Although not officially participating in Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022 (the company took part in the digital show last spring), NOMOS released a set of unexpected beauties in the Club Campus range earlier this week. The German company has introduced a pair of fresh, new dial color options in "Deep Pink" and "Blue Purple," offering both new options in the Club Campus' two standard case sizes of 36mm and 38.5mm. Outside of the updated dial colors, which continue a trend for the Club Campus, as seen last year in the Future Orange and Absolute Grey color variants, the new models are more-or-less identical to the Club Campus watch...

Germany's Sinn is not officially taking part in Watches and Wonders 2022, but that didn't stop the company from traveling to Geneva from its Frankfurt headquarters to take part in the inaugural C and (sorry) awkwardly named C?"Time To Watches" exhibition. Hosted at the HEAD (Haute cole d'art et de design) campus, also known as the Geneva University of Art & Design, Time To Watches is one of a number of outside fairs taking place in Geneva this week, alongside the big show. As part of Time To Watches, Sinn showcased its first few releases of the year, headlined by a quartet of colorful new options in the company's entry-level...

I can't think of another watch that's inspired as much discourse and discussion as the Omega Swatch MoonSwatch. Our original Introducing article has over 1,000 comments, the first time, to my knowledge,?that HODINKEE has broken the four-figure mark.? While I look forward to eventually purchasing a MoonSwatch for myself when they're available via e-commerce retail channels C remember these watches are not limited editions and Swatch has confirmed they'll be available to purchase online sooner rather than later C I opted not to get in line for a MoonSwatch Saturday morning;?long lines tend to make me feel claustrophobic.?Thankfully,?Danny, James, and a squad of i...

The iconic Monaco Gulf is back again C a special edition symbolic of a modern tradition paying homage to Jo Siffert, Steve McQueen, and the brand's racing history, dating back to the days of Jack Heuer. In terms of form and design, everything about this new release feels familiar. The Gulf Oil dial-emblazoning tradition at TAG Heuer continues. We have the iconic orange and blue coloration, a play-off of the Gulf branding, as well as the iconic Gulf stamp right near six o'clock. But where recent iterations of this vintage-inspired design have felt more and more modern, this new release has a bit of that modern design sensibility while ...

There has been a considerable push by Cartier to put its Pasha collection at the forefront, ahead of icons like the Tank or the Santos. The brand even sought out a younger crop of brand ambassadors like Rami Malek and Willow Smith to help this '80s darling reach a new audience. The expansion of the line brought us last year's new Pasha chronograph. This year, the brand is unveiling a whole host of new Pasha de Cartier models from gold to steel, from complicated to simple.? For today's proceedings, we'll be focused on the newest steel models, both in the classic time-and-date variation and the new version of the steel chronograph. ...

Hublot is doing it folks C it's releasing a square watch. The brand known for its porthole-inspired bezel designs, and large Classic Fusion pieces is taking the Big Bang IP and creating a new subset. Welcome to the Hublot-verse,?and have yourselves a look at the all-new Square Bang. This is the first time that Hublot has ever made a square watch but as you can see, it maintains the classic DNA the brand has infused into the?Big Bang and Classic Fusion lines over the years. While square in shape, the case is modular in construction with a central housing dressed with an upper and lower plate. This shap...

If you're a movie lover like me, you were glued to your television last night as the Academy Awards were broadcast on ABC from the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles. Unlike last year's Steven Soderbergh-directed affair, this was a return to form C with human hosts, Amy Schumer, Wanda Sykes, and Regina Hall. What we got was a bit and montage-heavy show with an unexpected C and entirely wristwatch free C interlude via a shocking altercation between Chris Rock and last night's Best Actor winner Will Smith. Getting back to the watches, there were a literal host of Watching Movies C erC movies featured in this year's show from Don't Look Up to House of Gucci to Nightmare A...

The Panerai Submersible QuarantaQuattro represents two firsts for Panerai: The first time eSteel, Panerai's sustainably-sourced case material has been used in the Submersible line, and the first time Panerai has implemented a highly polished, glossy ceramic in its watches. It comes in three dial colors, with bezels to match: Verde Smeraldo, Grigio Roccia, and Blu Profondo. Panerai introduced eSteel last year in the bezel-less Luminor Marina. With the Submersible line Panerai uses ceramic that's been polished to a glossy finish for its trademark unidirectional rotating dive bezel. The dial also wears a gradient pattern; light at t...

In Watch of the Week, we invite HODINKEE staffers and friends to explain why they love a certain watch. This week's columnist is a Los Angeles-based creative director, husband, and dad with a passions for vintage clothing, old trucks, and watches. My father drove a red 1989 Mercedes SL convertible with a license plate that read "NO SHMO." It had a built-in cellular phone and Neil Diamond in the cassette player. The trunk was full of court files and a coffee mug sat in the cupholder. If Joe Pesci, Danny Devito, and Waldorf from The Muppet Show had a child, that would be my dad. And I mean both their looks and their personas. Sure, he was a Jewish attorney, working...

Watches and Wonders Geneva has just kicked off, in its first in-person incarnation, and with that comes a slew of new releases from some of the watch industry's heavy hitters. Among the heaviest of hitters present is Patek Philippe, showing at a physical trade show for the first time since the demise of Baselworld, and for 2022 they're rolling out a new version of one of their most notable complications of recent years. The travel time complication jumped back into visibility for Patek back in 2018, with the Pilot Travel Time, and this year Patek is debuting the Annual Calendar Travel Time, which combines the Travel Time complication with the annual calendar, originally launched by Patek in ...

Say hello to the new Black Bay GMT S&G. The beloved steel Black Bay GMT now gets Tudor's silver and gold treatment. The bezel is rendered in yellow gold with a 24-hour graduated scale in matte brown and black, just like the classic Rolex "Root beer" GMT models of yore. The case size remains the same as the steel version at 41mm, and on top of the gold accents is the same domed grained matte black dial, except this time around the applied markers feature gold surrounds. On top of the 48-click gold bezel, you'll get a gold crown and gold center links on the Tudor riveted bracelet. ...

The big show has just kicked off and things are looking pretty sweet in Geneva as Tudor has just launched a brand new GMT sport watch called the Black Bay Pro. Let's get right down to the metal here, it's 39mm wide, has a fixed steel 24-hour bezel, and rocks the BB GMT's MT5652 movement for full "flyer" GMT function.? Clearly inspired by watches like the Rolex 1655 Explorer II, the Black Bay Pro has a domed matte black dial set in a satin-finished steel case with a matching brushed steel 24-hour bezel. Water resistance is 200 meters and the Black Bay Pro can be had with a steel bracelet, a NATO-like fabric strap, or a new hybrid ...

Patek Philippe has introduced a whole new design language within the classical Calatrava collection at Watches & Wonders Geneva 2022. The refreshed aesthetic uses the round case the Calatrava family has long been associated with but includes syringe hands, applied Arabic numerals, a lacquered charcoal grey dial with a textured finish, and beige lume. The real kicker for many, however, will be where Patek has opted to put the Calatrava's traditional clous de Paris hobnail decoration C?the caseband.? The textured dial is surrounded by a gradient black minute track that adds a bit of toolish precision to the overall look. The gr...

Danny gave pretty solid rundowns on the Pasha yesterday, but here's a little summary that you can bust out at a dinner party. The Pasha was born in 1985 and named for the Pasha El Glaoui of Marrakesh, a very loyal Cartier customer. The design is notable for its square inside of the circle and large Arabic numerals.? It's a bit of an oddball C the square peg in Cartier's lineup. But it is a watch that is primed for experimentation. And this year for Watches and Wonders, the brand is releasing an updated Pasha Grille. Taking cues from a gridded Cartier watch from the 1930s, these new watches feature a r...

Oh, hey! After this morning's madcap dash to write up the new-look Calatravas (check 'em out, here and here), I circled back and noticed an awesome twosome of new salmon dial color variants for two of Patek Philippe's most in-demand and collector-minded models, the Perpetual Calendar 5320 and Chronograph 5172. Now, sure, this is just a change in dial tone, but I still think it registers as news. Two of Patek Phillipe's most collectible current references in a sweet shade of salmon? Sign me up.? The new Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5320G The Patek Philippe Perpetual Calendar 5320 was introduced back in 2017. Ben wrote up t...

Yesterday, Logan shared the news of the updated Chronomaster Open, but that wasn't the only new release Zenith had up its sleeve. The still kind-of-new Chronomaster Sport received a material upgrade with a blush-worthy new rose gold option, plus a two-tone option made of rose gold and steel. The full rose gold is available in either a white or black dial and the two-tone has a sunray dial; both options feature Zenith's signature El Pimero tri-color counters and a tiny date display. The full rose gold really is full rose gold, all the way through the bracelet and the engraved bezel.? Inside you'll find the in-house El Primero 3600...

Recorded face-to-face from within the halls of Watches & Wonders 2022, the next several days will feature daily HODINKEE Radio episodes as we recap our experiences at the show, the latest new releases, and a whole lot of jet-lag-fueled and deeply nerdy conversation. Be sure to subscribe to the show so you don't miss any of these special episodes (Apple Podcasts,?Stitcher,?Spotify,?TuneIn).?Day One is a chat about the latest from Rolex, Tudor, and Patek Philippe, with the help of Jack, Danny, and Cole. From the lefty GMT-Master II to the Black Bay Pro and some unconventional new Calatravas from Patek Philippe, Day One was a blast and we hope you love the episode.? ...

Look, I know I'm bad at predicting what watch companies will release, but this just takes the cake. Yesterday, as the watch enthusiast world anxiously stared at an animated countdown timer on Tudor's website, I was trying to figure out what a "Black Bay Pro" could be. I had heard the name, born on whisky-soaked whispers that danced among Geneva's echoing sidestreets, just a few hours before, but I didn't have any idea what it could be.? Well, here it is, in the metal. A 39mm flyer GMT with a recognizable look that has been massaged to fit within the general yet evolving scope of the Black Bay line. If you know my taste for GMTs, Tudors, and the legacy of the Role...
